IFR: What paper charts are required?
So have not been able to get a firm answer on what exactly is required in terms of PAPER charts in a Part 91 IFR flight. We have tablet PCs with JeppView and FlightDeck software with all our coverage areas.
Our electronic coverage comes with a bunch of paper, including basically everything but approach, SIDs and STARs.
I want to toss as much of this paper away and still be legal of course.
Thoughts?

Except for Subpart K operations, there is no legal requirement for any charts at all. The legal limitation is that you have to have "all available information" under 91.103 and, of course, the overriding "careless/reckless" of 91.13.

What he said.
We use our EFBs (tablet PCs) running Jeppview and FliteDeck on 91 flights and we're in the approval process for going paperless 135 (which is an op spec we need to apply for and receive).
On a part 91 flight, I typically have my EFB, my enroute binder somewhere nearby and printouts from fltplan.com for nav log and weather/NOTAMS. That's about all the paper I have up front. Oh, and a TOLD card. Anything else is a waste of trees.

Has your EFB been TSO'd, and was the system installed in accordance with the TSO? Does it have all necessary charts (e.g. enroute, DP, IAP, etc.) on it and is it updated regularly? If so, then toss all the paper.
NEW INFO: It may not be that simple if you are subject to Subpart F, as it seems you might be. 91.503 requires charts. AC 120-76a (which seems to be the controlling authority) seems to require Subpart F operators to receive FSDO approval via an STC. Have fun!

Thanks for all the input guys.
With JeppView/FlightDeck version 3 I think we are set because it has all charts and text.
We currently do owner Part 91 trips, no fractional or 135. The last management company to run this plan had us on their 135 cert and listed our tablets on their Ops Specs.
