About as laughable as the Atlas air pay 747 pay rates a few ago as viewed from those of us who actually made money flying for DHL long ago. (astar/abx).

I should have proofread....Tired, just came off a 9 hr block day. Gotta love 117.
I certainly do not mean any disrespect to the Atlas group. They have done well over the past few years. But, i made more as an FE at DHL Airways in 2002 than an Atlas 747 Captain.
I hope as a group we can reverse this race to the bottom.

To Clarify: meant to say Atlas Air pay rates a few years ago.

It is not about rates. The work rules are what matters. Compensation at Atlas is sub standard for what we do. It is a decent job, but I would only recommend this place to those who can't get hired anywhere else.

It sure seems like a fun Pilot group as well. Ive met many Atlas crews overseas and they are good people. Lifestyle and QOL is important indeed. I am really missing those long blocks of days off that i had flying freight.

I'm not sure if your being facetious Spike. We can legally block 9hrs now under certain conditions. That is a long time in a 737. Someone once said that flying a 737 is 2 pilots crammed in a phone booth in a hurricane ….spot on. I think it was easier to fly a 16 hour flight in the 777 than it is to do a 5 hr flight in a 737ng. It's funny explaining to guys I fly with all the niceties of the 777. The thing that amazes them most is the 777 actually has a rheostat in the bunk room. In the 737, the only rheostat is in the cockpit and it's a full time job keeping the flight attendants happy with the temperature. Loving my new company, but I have to confess I miss being over Dhaka in the company of good airmen with the awesome catering and those heated foot warmers in the 777.

Most of the guys and and gals at Atlas are can do, outside the box people who have a lot of international experience. We move the freight in spite of many obstacles. It takes a certain kind of mentality to fly at Southern, Evergreen, Kalitta, or Atlas. And it adds insult to injury to be treated so poorly by the company.
The bright side is seeing the world, not working in a cubicle, living wherever you want, and having longer blocks of days off.
