Mongo,

Welcome aboard. I'd like to remind you this is not a hobby, we don't play with airplanes. This is our job, for most of us our entire livelihood. You disrespect your coworkers when you spout that SJS nonsense. You judge a job on the terms and conditions of employment. And the 737 at Southern is a poor job by almost any metric you use to evaluate our T&C.

I understand it is hard for people outside looking in to comprehend just how bad it can be. At least as hard as it is for a senior Captain to comprehend the perspective by a junior FO. But you're in it now. And so you will see for yourself soon enough if this is all you hope it will be, or if it is as bad as some have tried to warn you it is.

But you won't make any friends on the line with comments like the one you made to Potatochip.

Probably officially announced in the near future.

Knowing the company they will still tell us that it's "in the works" perpetually holding out that carrot.
That makes no sense, If #5 777 is officially dead, they would immediately bump 777 Cpts 41-48 to FO. They won't keep them on Cpt pay 1 minute longer than necessary.

Unfortunately, I'm hearing the same as Deisel8 from what I promise you is a separate source. The Prussians it seems may like the deal on this aircraft for another, likely off shore, operator. Currency revals and growing confidence in rosy pump price forecasts is tilting the board. But are the numbers finalized? Are they really done beating the lease terms down yet? A'int over till it's over.

Gringo, you're like the creeper ex-bf, that although you broke up with her, you still FB stalk to she who she's dating now....don't you have to go full "RETARD" somewhere else...like FLL?

Quick head count, how many with recall rights to AA? How many others have one foot out the door? It may be prudent to keep the Captain list a bit plumper than the bare minimum.

Wait, what am I saying?

Prudence? Forethought? These are not the hallmarks of Southern Air. Why plan ahead when you can react to a crisis when its already too late?

Time it takes to upgrade to Captain:
Depending on previous experience/previous Captain on the aircraft -
2 weeks to a month+.

Time it takes to downgrade to FO:
2 seconds.

Crucified,

Gringo has more relevant posts in this thread than you have posts in two years of APC.
Airlines aren't ex-girlfriends. They are our employers. Gringo's experiences at Southern are only a year removed. In other words still largely relevant. His perspective in cautioning people about what they will be getting themselves into by coming here is still a useful data point.
More information is usually better than less. Who are you that you want people with critical views of the company to be silenced?

His analogy was off to begin with. Southern Air was family. Still is, actually.

And while I'm now happily divorced, I still have visitation rights.

He ought to fit right in at Southern.
Robthree - your ridiculous comparison ("challenged" working conditions vs. domestic violence) insults every victim of this terrible crime. How DARE you even make such an insensitive and ignorant remark?
