No, come here and ***** because we enjoy the worst terms and conditions in the industry. Not FedEx or Delta? Geeze man, we're not Atlas, or even Kalitta. Things may not suck too bad for senior 777 Captains, but there is no one on the 737 who doesn't hate it. And your FOs are just making ends meet, we make half what you do. There is no kit car in my garage. I don't have a collection of anything, besides past due bills. We're not 20 somethings, we've got families to take care of, and we all know most of us will never see the left seat.

I'm not mad at you for being comfortable; you've earned it and you deserve it. But so do I. I am ****ed at the company for stealing from all of us.

Yeah, we gripe. D*** straight, we do. And for very good reason.

Any new hire who comes here ought to constantly complain about the conditions, not because they are "whiners", but because the conditions are not acceptable. Suffering in silence isn't going to change anything. If you don't want to hear it, go play with your toys.

As far as I know, it's Kalitta Charters II that bought 1 737. Nothing to do with K4 or DHL.

I can't agree with this at all. Any new hire who goes there, especially after reading this thread, should be fully aware of the conditions, and is choosing to go there voluntarily. No one is being forced to apply, interview, accept the offer, or attend class. Any new hire that complains is an a-hole. You can't go to a crap company with horrible work rules and a bad contract and then complain because the company is as bad everyone told you it was going to be.

Now, for all of you that have been there and seen things change and evolve, you have every right.

So what are you doing to improve things? Are you volunteering with the Union? No? Then you are just *****ing and whining! Are you fixing small operational problems one tiny bit at a time? No? Then you are just *****ing and whining because you think everyone around you wants to hear it. Did you vote to accept the extension of the CBA during bankruptcy or vote to accept the B737 LOA? Yes? Then you can not complain that we are stuck with our current conditions. Management is simply following or exploiting the crappy rules we voted for. If you are a new hire and are "surprised" by the work rules then it is your fault for not doing your due diligence.

SAI executives are no different than any other airline management. Any improvement will need to be negotiated with them. They are not just going to give us something because they feel sorry for us. Currently we are in a poor negotiating position. Improvements will only come through a need to reduce costs. As more pilots leave the training costs will rise and then, and only then, will management maybe give a little to help retain pilots and lower the cost of attrition. *****ing here on APC or at the breakfast table will accomplish nothing.

I'm happy to see many pilots move on to better jobs. I encourage it. If you are not a B777 Captain there is no reason to stay here any longer than to find the next, better flying job.

If you are a B777 FO and not close to upgrade with B777 #5 or 6 you should be doing everything you can to improve your resume to enable you to move on. If that means finishing a degree...get it done. If it means bidding CA on the B737 so you can gain additional TPIC, or at least show your future employers that you are not a unupgradeable FO, then you need to do it. If you do not take an available upgrade you will be stuck as a SAI FO. Airlines don't hire FO's. They hire future Captains.

If I was on the other side of the fence and looking at a resume for a pilot who I knew had probably bypassed upgrade oportunities at their current employer I would simply move on to another candidate. We have too many "comfortable" FO's here at Southern. They sit around wondering why nobody is calling them for an interview at UAL, DL, AS, FedEx, etc. Get off you butt! Volunteer for the Union to help improve things while you are here. Do everything you can to improve your employability like taking the first available upgrade! Report small problems that need to be fixed to the CP or appropriate Union Committee. Do what YOU can to make each month just a little bit better. Otherwise, $TFU and sit back and watch others pass you by.

A few short legs in & out of the hub in CVG 6 days a week times maybe two weeks of flying plus some reserve equals not much chance of breaking guarantee. It's a 61 hour guarantee on the B737 not that it makes much of a difference. Night hub turns are difficult on your body whether it's flying for DHL, FDX, or UPS. Just ask the guys that are currently doing it or have in the past. SAI/DHL is asking you to do it for even less $ than the other guys.

The days in pink are reserve days either babysitting an airplane in CVG or YEG. The green days (GDO) are days off. May lines have 13 days off. Some of them consecutively. Sorry the image is not sharper. It's the best I could do.

I Know SOO is not a Delta or Fedex but I don't consider it whining
to demand what we are all truly worth. I wonder what the fuel vendors would say if management took the position they were not
a Delta or Fedex and could not pay the same amount for fuel.
The same when they call Boeing for parts. DHL has a problem
brewing in the way they are conducting business as it relates to
pilots flying their services. Let's stand up for ourselves and the
Profession. Not by whining but by demonstrating unity in fighting
for a better contract.

Nope. You'll probably fly 50 hours or less per month. Financially count on guarantee unless Scheduling assigns you extra flying on R days or you pick up open trips on your days off. Day off flying adds 4 hours of credit per day plus your actual block time all on top of the 61 hour guarantee. If you live in the base then day off flying is pretty easy to pick up. If you commute and have family commitments elsewhere then it will be difficult to break guarantee.

Day off flying has traditionally been the way to make $ at SAI. The heavy flying on the B777 is the exception.
