A suggestion for all. Why don't the individuals that want to debate the Union at Atlas start another thread and let the ones that want to work at Atlas use this thread to gather information?

I don't know the name of the thread is Atlas Air Hiring......

Heck I will even volunteer to start it!

I would of said "vote for me to start a new thread" but that may be considered campaigning. Just kidding

The 800.

We are a talented bunch.

We have come from all facets of the business. Many have led unions at other airlines. Negotiated great contracts at other airlines. We have been First Officers, Captains, Instructors and Evaluators before.

We have come from companies still in business, and no longer in business. We might be here of our own choosing or due to management teams unable to keep their business a profitable entity.

We understand finances and how profitable this mature company is.

We are well aware of what we are worth, what value our time is worth and the value we bring the company.

We also can understand policy decisions that affect only those that are not in our 800.

We are strong, we are smart, we are one.

We are the 800.

This is an invitation to the 200. Join us. Let us look out for ourselves. Let's cease being The 800 and be the 1000.

Divider was mentioned above, debatable. Question. Is a divider one that voices his/her concern and is then pounced on by individuals in the know? Or is the divider the one that pounces simply because the information leaked out before the time was right for them? Just curious

Cargowannabe

AQP will bring rules on the process that currently are sorely lacking. V1 cut and you fail or do you get another chance or even some training depends on the time remaining or even the individual Sim Check Airman. Under AQP it is train to proficiency even during the validation of maneuvers period, much more appropriate at this level of the game and does not generate pink slips like the process in place now. Just like the other major airlines in the industry. I agree we are not paid enough to go to training, and it must be addressed in the next contract.

A divider is one who disagrees with the leadership and actively works against those duly elected officials empowered by the membership. Anyone is, obviously, welcome to disagree. When a member takes on work for the leadership and then actively, and inappropriately releases privileged information, that person is a divider due to the seeds of doubt that are sown into the membership from a person the membership considers to be in a position of trust. If a person does not agree with the leadership, fine, but do not take on a position of responsibility and then actively work against the official leadership from within! Do your work, follow the CBA and have your opinion, but do not work against what is after all YOUR leadership too. It breaks our solidarity and no group can afford it; especially not ours.

PLEASE start a new thread Cargowannabe....I am new to posting and would likely mess it up.

Exemplary post of what is wrong.

It's guys like you that are the problem. You assume cargowannabe is some new pilot to the industry and talk down to him. I know he has more union experience and definitely knows what AQP is. Perhaps assumptions of the 200 should be replaced with questions.

It is incredibly important that applicants understand the culture of this organization. We are competing with Delta, United, American, Hawaiian, Alaska, FedEx and UPS for pilots.

Are you kidding? I assumed nothing. A guy asks me a question and I answer it fully and you say I am talking down to someone? I am simply giving my opinion to one who asked for it; I have no idea who is senior and who is junior either at Atlas or in the industry. It is my opinion; nothing more.

Please flesh out your response above as to what you mean "...exemplary post of what is wrong." I am part of the problem for advocating we follow our elected leadership? Surely you are joking. One of the hallmarks of a good leader is that person's ability to be a good follower when not in charge. Which are you?

BTW, I totally agree with you on your 800-200 post. Many more of the 200 agree with you than you give credit. I would only say it is more like 900-100 for your theory; in my opinion. I am not part of the problem any more than you are...SOLIDARITY is our mutual problem and we need our entire group to get to this important fact instead of dividing the intelligent and qualified group of which we are both members.

+1 for a new thread discussing these issues.

For those considering employment, here is my 2 cents...

I enjoy my time at Atlas. I am fortunate to have been selected for a position. I enjoy 99% of the dudes I fly with. I like to believe they enjoy flying with me too. I don't mind being flexible within reason... I don't mind being on the road within reason... But we should be compensated appropriately for our efforts and for the equipment we fly. I.e., industry standard for international 74/76 professional pilots.

I want it to be good here!

Things have changed in the short time since I've been hired. It very obvious. I have discouraged many friends from applying here. Hour-leveling, laughable retirement plan, scheduling baffonery, insufficient training pay, vacation day awards, sick time loopholes, and LOA promises that have not materialized are very disheartening! I can't imagine a corporate business or Fortune 500 company taking advantage of their employees this way.

A girl named "Delta" from Match.com winked at me, so I'll do some man-scaping, brush my teeth, and refresh my ATP knowledge for her parent's QnA session. If they like me, there may be another PIRA request added to the stack!

Wake up, AAWW!

Whoa! I guess that what happens to me when I post drunk! Anyways, if the pension rumor is true, I hope its not a "traditional" pension that virtually every Legacy lost in Bankruptcy. All we need is a new management team like ATA or World to rape Atlas of everything and flush our pay, pensions, and jobs down the drain.

To contribute to the real purpose of this thread since Im thinking more normal, read all 883 pages!!! kidding. With the addition of a DHL bird and Astral announcing they need another aircraft, I'd say the future might be looking brighter. Also, Panalpina said that their 2013 freight profit far exceeded expectations, and thats VERY good for us. Plus, you have roughly 35 retirements per year, and many long term medicals. So, its possible that there will be a few classes just based on retirements/medicals just this year. The amount of open time emails is still high, and the out bases seem to be increasing slightly which indicate short staffing. Good luck!
