Seems like that defeats the entire purpose of a great benefit and one of the major upsides to Atlas.

You're right, but with the company playing games, it's easier to roll straight into the hub via jumpseat than it is to leave in the early morning on your last day off to make it to CVG for legal rest (with a backup!). Also, there's always the risk of them tacking your $600 flight into your taxable income.

Note: We don't have a commuter policy, so if you don't make it for showtime, it's on you. Which is why, of course, most people just take the ticket and the hassle. But really, it's not like Omni. As I'm sure we've discussed in the past, your trip starts on Day 1, so gateway travel is done on days off for the most part (JFK base tends to be an exception on the 767).

Completely agree. Folks should type a response, then leave their computer for a an hour before hitting Submit.

First year guys need to be careful of using that gateway to ANC. I flew with a guy who just came off of first year pay and had so much imputed income that he got a bill one month. I think if you're a first year guy trying to get to ANC it'd be best if you could make it to CVG and jumpseat.

No doubt. That problem continues second year too if you're on the 767, for those keeping track at home (only $4/hr raise from first year pay).

When I was ANC based I used gateway up to ANC and then used FedEx to get home. I live on the east coast so it was very straightforward getting home on FedEx. The FedEx flights go direct to MEM from ANC and from there you should be able to get home easily. The seats open up to everyone 24hrs prior to departure. And you can't be bumped off one you have a confirmed seat in their system. So I would schedule gateway travel 2-3 days prior to going home and then call for a seat on FedEx 24 hrs prior. If you checkin for your gateway flight it's more difficult to cancel the trip. Once in ANC, I would cancel the gateway travel ticket. If for some reason I knew I would miss the fedex flight I would keep the gateway travel seat, checkin and cancel my FedEx seat. This only happened once. Be sure to cancel your seat on FedEx if you can't make it because others will want your seat.

AtlasSlave

Interesting. A 74CA, but just joined as the political season starts to heat up. I think the Atlas "old school" has just realized that things are about to radically change.

Literally could affect the decision to work here for some.
How long have you been in the pool?

I know things get buried pretty quickly here but earlier there was mention of a July class on the 21st. 747 Instructors in MIA are preparing for it.

Keep in mind everyone it is getting close to negotiations time and that always creates a stir in the force. Both sides will start pushing and shoving, that's how it goes.

I agree with Tallon, this thread is for those seeking employment who have questions. With the tangents recently from current employees there have been missed questions from prospective employees or even those in the pool. This information would be best discussed on another thread. Might I suggest an "Atlas" thread in the "Charter" section or even "Cargo" section? But missing questions from those who come here to ask them about hiring is a disservice to this valuable thread.

If you have an Atlas hiring/other question(s) that has been missed, I will do my best to go back and answer them but please feel free to ask again in case I or others missed it.

I PMed you. Please contact me if this is still an issue for you.

Anyone with similar situations, especially those that have been in the pool for over a year, please PM me and I will do what I can to help you.

There will be a class in July (21st I believe). My best guess is that calls for that class will start going out as early as next week but most likely around 2 weeks before the class starts (that is about the time when HR will become aware of that class while the training department already knows of it and is already preparing for it).

Hopefully your pool days will soon be over. Sorry for the delay, it is a start on the wrong foot but if you are here for the kind of flying we do, this will be but a short bad memory that will quickly go away when you are having the time of your life online!

Were you able to get a hold of anyone? Did you get an answer yet?
