Atlas Air Hiring
#8782
Everyone is new at one time...I am just sick of people making up their own facts.
Thanks for the input, but I don't see what you are describing in your post.

With a new contract (maybe around 2015/16?) Im not going to vote for anything close to whats in our current contract. Lets just pick one thing: retirement. The retirement is a JOKE compared to what some of our competing airlines' (in terms of attracting/hiring the same qualified pilots as Atlas) retirement is. Do you really think that a qualified pilot would pick Atlas over UAL/DAL/AA/FEDEX/UPS (whoever is hiring in 2015 or 2016) with their nice hourly rates and awesome retirements? I mean, UAL gets a 16% 401k match! DAL isnt far behind and they have relatively young contracts. The other guys' retirement is enough to sway a qualified pilot away from Atlas. Take their huge match and compound it over a 20 year career... Atlas is getting a 50% match up to 10% of salary contrib. Thats a joke and has to get into the same ballpark as anyone else who hires the same pilots Atlas does. Otherwise, the junior guys who get hired with Atlas will leave to far greener pastures, or eventually Atlas wont be able to hire the type of pilots they want/need...you know, the type that are at the very top of our list right now??
Come here knowing that there is a ton of potential for improvement. But its going to take teamwork and its going to be difficult.

Hey Cxxxx,
We are going to delete the post of you selling your jacket in an abundance of caution. Someone is sending those posts directly to the company and it is a little gray area - selling your company issued jacket - just wanted to let you know. It is not censorship it is only us trying to protect you. Let me know if you have any questions.

Everyone should understand that the company managers read this board and PPRUNE for entertainment. They have since the Cato days. They have also fired at least one guy for posting anti-company stuff on yahoo financial web boards that they claim hurt the company. Just my two pfennigs.

Glad they have nothing else to do with their time... Nice heads up to future prospects looking to work here on what it's like. Speaking of, let's turn it back to hiring for folks and take this stuff to the union board if we want to continue it. Anybody have any info for people about hiring? Interviews still stopped?

On the hiring side, I have heard that there are supposed to be 2 classes per month for the rest of the year. Interviews, I would imagine, will be complimentary to keeping that. Lately a class was rumored to be filled by releasing some 767 seat locks because some originally in the class got hired out from underneath the company. How's that for hiring information at Atlas?

I'd suggested that a while back (post #8672) but there were no takers. I really do think the union stuff and the hiring information deserve to be put in different threads. Firstly, the value of this thread to those seeking employment is lessened by consistently going off topic. Secondly, the union discussion invariably gets emotional and things are typed on an open web board that can come back to bite the author in the posterior regions.

I'm in the pool and waiting....... However it's good to see what's going on but nobody has mentioned hiring info in a while. Last class I was aware of was June 30th and no mention of anything after. Also I'll be curious to see what happens with backup flights. That's a pretty major QOL issue especially if you have a 60 day line with shorter trips and more gateway travel. Literally could affect the decision to work here for some.
That is true, particularly for some with long commutes to ANC from the east coast. Honestly, I know with CVG, more and more people I know just jumpseat in on company or ABX rather than deal with the hassle.
