You might get HSV within a year, but who knows? HSV is mainly Africa or Afghanistan flying. Not the best destinations but you will occasionally get out to the rest of the system. If you live within reasonable driving distance to HSV then its a no brainer. At least 1 or 2 more "days" off when you don't have to gateway. I would guess 10 out of 12 months a year I actually start in HSV. And probably 8 out of 12 months I operate into or DH into HSV after my trip is over. Not EVERYTHING is into and out of HSV when based there, but a majority is. Sitting R2 at home (if within 130 miles of HSV) can be nice.

I started flying the line in June 13. I was in ANC through Dec. then CVG Jan - Mar 14. Currently assigned to HSV. I live in CHS and am happy with HSV. E commute to both HSV and CVG is the same due to schedules 3-4.5 hours depending on flight availability. I did my first afghan line in April. I have to say that was one I the best supported missions out of Brize that I've been on so far. While the ground time in Afghanistan is long it makes for a good nap. With PAE currently taking 20 FOs that will shake things up...a bit. Im not sure where the "new" 3 jets are being placed but that might changes the numbers as well. For my class junior to senior bases were: ANC, CVG, HSV MIA. Folks have bid for JFK and LAX but no one has had success yet.

Sounds like interviews May 6-8 and a class in May but the latter is a distant rumor and I certainly don't have a date for it. Anyone else hear about a class date?
