Are you CVG 747?

Just a general question. What are the chances of getting CVG 747 as a new hire?

Right now ANC will be your assigned base. There are still guys hired a year ago looking to get out and the latest vacancy bid had 24 open FO positions. But that's as of today, tomorrow....??

If you're in the class starting at the end of the month, CVG 76 may be an option.

Not today. But I've had several bases, and that has been true for me in each base. However, I've had friends in the same bases, and they get guarantee.

Now with the influx of the 3 New planes and the additional base, anything is possible at any base as much as ever.

I'm but one data point in a thousand, and in aviation there is no constant.

Thanks! I kind of figured that would be the case. I'm also starting in the April 28th class. Looking forward to it. All the information in this thread has been outstanding! Can't thank you all enough!

No worries NAA. Congrats on the class date! If you have any specific questions that haven't been answered before, fire away. 2dogrc gave a pretty good synopsis of the training footprint a few pages back, FYI. Welcome aboard!

I to will be in the 28 Apr class and last week when I got the call I was told to expect ANC which was no surprise. However in our conversation, I was told that HSV could be in play for me in the near future if I wanted due to my close proximity. I've been told that HSV lines always start and end there. Can someone weigh in and give me a little insight? Advantages/disadvantages??

I was living in the south and based in HSV. It was great. Then all the Africa flying got assigned there and I bailed to ANC. It's a huge pain to get there. You'll want to be in HSV over ANC for sure if you live near by. I'm pretty senior in ANC and I still lose days off going to and from work, so you'd get killed with that being junior. Welcome to the party! See you at the bar!

You might get HSV within a year, but who knows? HSV is mainly Africa or Afghanistan flying. Not the best destinations but you will occasionally get out to the rest of the system. If you live within reasonable driving distance to HSV then its a no brainer. At least 1 or 2 more "days" off when you don't have to gateway. I would guess 10 out of 12 months a year I actually start in HSV. And probably 8 out of 12 months I operate into or DH into HSV after my trip is over. Not EVERYTHING is into and out of HSV when based there, but a majority is. Sitting R2 at home (if within 130 miles of HSV) can be nice.
