I've been scanning through the pages of threads on here. Can anyone provide a little quick insight on the interview questions? Just trying to find a quick nutshell of the types of questions asked by HR; For example, "your strengths/weaknesses, Tell me about a time, What makes a good Ca or Fo, ect." Looking forward to interviewing next week.
Thanks for the guidance

The interview day started at 0715 sharp, and I was one of the only ones who did NOT wear a tie. I wore a standard suit with a dark blue shirt, no tie. When I walked into the boardroom, the rest of the interviewees were wearing suits and ties. I probably stuck out like a sore thumb, but it didn't affect the end result.
The day was broken up into 4 segments: The writing assignment, the panel interview, the resume review, and the technical interview. This was all scheduled in advance, so you knew exactly what time your next segment began. From 0715-0800, we all watched the Atlas introduction video, and got a brief presentation on the business plan and plans for growth going forward. A quick Q&A followed
My schedule had me doing the writing assignment from 0800-0830, along with 5-6 others (there were 13 of us total). The writing assignment was 1 page, hand written, with a 30 minute time limit on a topic of their choosing. The topic of the day was "Describe the two types of noise abatement procedures, and use specifics." I wrote about the NADP1 and NADP2 departure procedures on the 767. They're really just looking to see if you can be coherent and understood. Nothing tricky.
I then had a break from 0830-1000, so a few of us made small talk and drank coffee. I got the feeling that they were somewhat observing this downtime, but I could just be paranoid.
At 1000, I started my panel interview. I did the interview with an HR rep, a management pilot, and a line pilot/IBT rep. Very laid back, standard HR interview. It was very low stress, and I felt that they were legitimately trying to get to know me, and see if I believed Atlas would be a good fit. The conversation flowed very organically, but here are questions I can remember:
If Delta called while you were in class, would you go? Why not?
What are your overall career goals?
Is the captain always right?
How would you escalate concerns to a captain you're flying with?
What are your strengths/weaknesses? (Bah, I fumbled this one)
Do you ever get stressed in the cockpit? How do you deal with it?
Some of the questions took some thought, but like I said, low stress. This took 35-40 minutes, but I actually lost track of time.
At 1100, I began the resume review with RR (Sr. Director of the Flight Ops Support Group). He went through my resume, asking questions about my history. This is very low stress; I think he just wants to see that you're not lying about your background, and that your story matches what's on paper. I'm told by someone in the know there that he's one of the guys who makes the final decision, and that he's looking for people who still like to fly airplanes. Take that for what it's worth.
At 1130, I went into the technical interview. This was rather tough, but I got through it. Questions I remember:
Define Vmcg.
What's the relationship between Vmcg and V1?
What are the four segments of the climb? (I fumbled this one)
What's the main reason for using a derate takeoff?
What's the procedure for diverting off track in the North Atlantic?
What's the procedure for a weather deviation in the North Atlantic without a clearance?
What's the FAF on an ILS?
What's the FAF on a LOC approach?
Can you fly the ILS 32R at ORD if ORD VOR is out of service? Why or why not?
Read an international METAR/TAF.
Read an international NOTAM.
Bonus question: If you're on a DME arc, how many miles from the arc are you protected from terrain? (I think he was playing stump the chump with that one).
Very nice guy...it was a very laid back tech interview, even though some of the questions were tough. If you didn't know something, he taught you about it.
At 1200, I was done completely, and we broke for lunch. They catered sandwiches, which was excellent. During lunch, a line check airman came in and offered a candid Q&A session. We were assured that nothing we asked was part of the interview, so some good information was brought up on real-life QOL issues, pay, travel, etc.
At 1300, we did a quick 20-30 minute tour of the facility. There was another employee following the group, so I got the impression they were watching to see how enthusiastic you were (or weren't) about the experience. I asked the tour person couple questions just to be on the safe side.
At about 1330, I was done for the day, so I was released (along with 5-6 others) to head home. At about 1800 the same night, they called me up and asked if I could be in the 1/29 class, and I accepted. Drug test tomorrow up here in PA, and I'm sure I'll get to play the PRIA game soon, too.

Do we have a good list for folks regarding the essay / writing competition subjects?
Some I can think of off hand...
Balanced Takeoff
Derate Takeoff- how/why/etc
PRM approaches
Oceanic procedures
As it has been said before this is a exercise of aviation knowledge, but in my opinion an opportunity to prove to the company you can write a one page letter to the company and not sound illiterate.
