You won't see 6 figure dolla bills 1st year (or second for that matter) on the mighty twin.

One of the questions during the phone interview is if the pilot is familiar with the gateway basing system. I think I understand from reading this read but I am not sure 100%. You can live in any city that has a major airport that Atlas can commercial you from, correct? But is it limited only to the U.S.? Can you live in Europe? Vienna, Austria by any chance?

Well, you can, and we have people who live abroad, but it's on you to get to the US, and then Atlas will Gateway you to your base. If you can get to one of our birds headed to the US, it's pretty easy. If you're jumpseating on a pax carrier, maybe not so much.

We have guys that live in or have lived in...

Mexico
Caribbean
S America
Europe (France, Italy, Greece, Austria, and others)
Israel
Dubai
Thailand
Philippines
Japan
Taiwan
Hong Kong

They make it work...how?
As captainv pointed out...they try to connect with a company aircraft headed to a city in the 50 US States.
But beware, those airplanes are rerouted, go early, go late, not go at all...and any combination thereof. Guys jumpseat from all of the above places. They also buy airline tickets, train tickets, rent cars, etc to connect with those airplanes.
In some cases, they even have to drop some serious coin on buying tickets to a US city on a pax airline...
In some case, they suddenly develop a strange disease when they can't get on a jumpseat!!

Remember . . . 50 U.S. States The guy I know in Sydney would get himself to HNL. Yep, as in Honolulu! I just checked the current Gateway airports and it's still listed. The only caveat is it usually costs him a couple extra days from home. But just sayin'.

Man, I'd move to SYD in a heartbeat if I could. I did a 5-day SYD layover a few months back, and actually started looking at rent prices and visa requirements.

For those keeping score, 2nd year light twin pay doesn't really go too far in Australia. I'll stick to the US.

I've been scanning through the pages of threads on here. Can anyone provide a little quick insight on the interview questions? Just trying to find a quick nutshell of the types of questions asked by HR; For example, "your strengths/weaknesses, Tell me about a time, What makes a good Ca or Fo, ect." Looking forward to interviewing next week.

Thanks for the guidance

Don't forget about alternate travel if you live outside the US. If your designated gateway has really absurd prices, you can set up alternate travel from your residence....

Good luck!
