So I'm assuming 1234 is junior to 6789. Or is it the other way around?

Other way around. Lowest is best.

That's such a BS way to determine class seniority. So the young guy, that has decades to fly, but is fortunate to have a low SSN becomes more senior, and remains that way, to the older guy that'll retire first?

Yeah, that's a great method.....

Is class seniority based on age?

How long to hold Miami 747?
Last four of social. Or you could be completely randomly assigned to aircraft types out of seniority order :/

We have quite a few guys that have come from World...I'm sure you are in touch with some of them. Please have them send a recommendation on your behalf...also, after they do, make sure to do a PAQ update and include their name on it.

According to those in the know, the recommendation does not help until you get to Miami for the face-to-face interview, but IMHO, it can't hurt even at this point in the process...

Good luck.
Good advice, thanks.

What does "VTO" mean? Some type of reserve line?

They're similar to a "buildup" or a "relief" line you might have seen at other carriers. They take a mishmash of trips dropped for vacations, training, LOAs, etc. and build lines out of them. They're bid and awarded after the regular line awards come out. Coinflip if they're good or not.

VTO lines can have reserve duty, but you have the same contractual rights as a regular or hybrid lineholder.

Apparently it was the most reliable "random process", everything else, including using age, is "discrimination." Even a "larger than average" person that occupies 2 seats worth of seats yet purchases only one and you have to sit next to him, calling him "fat" and forcing him to purchase 2 seats is "discrimination." But I agree with you, I personally would be more than happy to go by age and let the elder people in the class get the better seniority.
