I suppose its different since I never got a phone interview, but anyone know what happens next after the test? Phone interview now or just interview invite?

I believe you'll receive a phone interview upon successful completion of the test

The greater dispatch reliability of the -8's over the 400's is an asset.

The -8 warranties cover repair of major components for first four years and there is a heavy maintenance “honeymoon” that Boeing pays. That cost savings is an asset.

The 747-8 has more than a 15% fuel efficiency advantage over the 747-400, 16 percent more revenue cargo volume than the 747-400 Freighter, four additional main-deck pallets and three additional lower-hold pallets, and an additional 22 tons (20 tones) of payload.

Based on the poor dispatch performance of a couple of our older maintenance plagued 400's, I think "replacing" them with -8's would be a wise thing to do.

Interesting.

If true, that would be a reversal of the was it has been done in the past when the phone interview was the first step followed by the invitation to do the online test.

Good to know, but any confirmation on this change?

Or are the apps actually decreasing because everyone is hiring and the top of the class is decreasing maybe the middle of the class is getting some chances now? There was a time when Atlas was the best game in town, but now that everyone is going gang busters the Atlas life isn't for everyone. I think you have those of us that see Atlas as the best game in town still and those that don't like the idea of being away for 2-3 wks at a time. I'm still awaiting my chance. The idea of essentially flying C-17 missions without dealing with TACC plus slightly better accommodations, duty days, and crew rest puts a smile on my face.

^^^^^Good description of the life at Atlas...only it's even better than that. I'm a former active duty C-5 guy and current C-5 reservist. I can tell you first hand that Atlas flying is a lot like doing the C-5 mission without all the crappy stuff. I hope you get an invite soon.

... and no tents or MREs! Don't forget that. I'm an old Starlifter guy but your words are just as true for that comparison. I'm loving life here.

I studied "Ace the Technical Pilot Interview" and I would say that's an excellent guide for studying. There really isn't time during the test to look anything up, and they only give you a few days to take the test, so I would definitely be studied up if you're hoping to get an invitation to take it. Thanks again everyone!

Nicely done! Let us know when you get the phone call/interview.
