1000 PIC turbine?
I've been updating my stuff with Atlas for almost a year and still no call (heavy mil/part 121/intl background with 2 friends at Atlas). I'm beginning to wonder if they screen out those with less than 1000 PIC turbine (I have 874). I noticed it is a field on the pre-application questionnaire?
Anybody getting a call this time around with less than 1000 PIC turbine?
Also, is anybody using any military time conversions (.2 or .3 per sortie to account for taxi time) or have heard of Atlas having an issue with it?
Frustrated-

You have to understand that NOTHING is set in stone at Atlas. The trips out of HSV and MIA tend to be 3 and 4 day trips. You would go out to LUX and back or Mexico City, Guadalajara, HSV for example. If you live within an hour or two of HSV, then you could be home quite a bit. But you could also have your entire pattern change while driving to the airport and end up in Africa.
Yes, it has been said a lot but it never hurts to clarify this important point. If you can't handle being away for at least 17 days, then do the next guy a favor and don't take the job.
I truly think that our new contract will have some nice improvements, but we are still a global non-scheduled freight hauling company with many military contracts too. The good thing is that this characteristic keeps it all very interesting.

It's hard to judge tone in these posts, so I'll say thanks for the line in bold.
The underlined part is unnecessary; I understand how ACMI can be.
Some of the info that is presented sounds like this to me: In poker, any hand can win and you never know how things will play out. However, AA tends to do well in Texas Hold'em. Just to be clear, I'm interested in the tendencies.

Don't think there is any "tone" offered in the reply. The underlined section is the gist of the message "Plan on being out for 17 days" With your experience in ACMI you understand the impossibility of a cookie cutter answer. Also, tendencies tend to change in this biz so what is going on now can change in a few short turns of the cycle. I have seen mostly 17 day+ trips with lots of unproductive sitting in between (not complaining - just the facts) The bases here at Atlas are somewhat notional to begin with. You can bid a specific pattern - and then by the time you execute that bid - it may not even remotely resemble what you bid for. The only absolute is that you owe the company 17 days a month which can be involuntarily extended to 21 days. You may work less, but chances are once they have you on the road they will keep you until they burn thru your days (regardless of what you have bid for) I am sure that I will be corrected by others, but my viewpoint is that of a 6 month employee with no seniority. All in all it is a great place to work with a bright outlook for the near term.

Keep the faith, I got in with about 700 TPIC, very similar background to yours. I didn't use a conversion factor on my resume, although Atlas sent a form just prior to the interview that had a 1.2 conversion factor based on total times v. sorties if that helps. Best of luck!
cheers
