Atlas Air Hiring
#5631
I haven't heard hard numbers, but there was this:
We were supposed to hire 50 for the two new 767s. Most of those are in class already - maybe one more class?

they are looking at a upgrading 20 capt. for the 767 and 12 more for the 747. Bid comes out on the 15th of Feb.
The 767 upgrades for the LAX base postponed by 30 days. The bid on the 15th will have a few 767 upgrades though.
please feel free to look into the number I posted and feel free to correct them. I may be wrong.

I talked with a friend from the January interviews. He and another guy start on 11 March - 747.

-3/29/11- submitted PAQ/resume (updated every 30-60 days while the window was open)
-1/09/13- phone interview and invite for online test
-1/11/13- passed online test
-1/11/13- invite for 2/5 interview
-2/05/13- interview
-2/07/13- offered the 2/18 747 class (deferred to the 3/11 class since I'm on a trip)
When I was interviewing, I caught a glance of my resume that one of the interviewers had in front of them and it looked like the one I submitted when the window reopened in Aug last year. That would have been the first one that reflected my current job and 400 type rating. My interview group of 10 was an even mix between ACMI types (all flying Boeing 767/777/747) and military types. It was a very qualified, very sharp group. I honestly didn't feel that great about my chances with that competition.
As others have pointed out repeatedly, the information in this thread is invaluable. I read every page two years ago when I first started this process and have stayed up to date since. Many thanks to all the regular contributors, Indiana microbrews on me at the grill

I am waiting patiently on a call from Atlas and have been offered a March 4 class date at another carrier, a domestic LCC as it happens. Atlas is my first choice; the job I have been offered is not. The only thing I can see that is expected of me from the offered job is for me to resign my position with my previous (furloughed) carrier, which I would have no qualm doing. I have no feel for how competitive I am with Atlas as they seem to be picking people with varied backgrounds, but I came from an ACMI carrier and that is the career and lifestyle I prefer.
My concern is that I will receive a call sometime shortly after I commence training March 4. Realizing that I would be "burning a bridge" with the LCC, I am wondering how it would be seen by the folks hiring at Atlas if I am able to get invited to interview.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
