Txntchr,

You're going to get flamed for your post. I'll be kind and suggest that you go read the 530+ pages that precede your post. 99.9% of your questions will be answered by sitting down with a pot of coffee, a good meal, a lot of quiet time, and a ton of patience.

When you've made it through all the pages/posts and THEN you still have a question....well, then you'll understand.

What else I am studying in preparation for the test, in addition to reading the Atlas thread:

1. ATP question bank. ASA's iOS app is only $9.99.

2. Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot, by Richie Lengel. (This is one everyone should have a copy of in their library!) The 9th edition is the current one. It can be found in the high $40's to low $50's.

3. The North Atlantic Operations and Airspace Manual - Edition 2012 which is available for download here: Documents

Best of luck!

Ok, I'm one of the guys that always recommend that a prospective Atlas pilot read the entire thread...there are several guys that posted a list of what they considered to be important pages. Although that is true, and even helpful, there are little nuggets of information scattered throughout this mega thread.

Those little nuggets do at least two things...

1. Provide useful information not posted anywhere else on the thread...could be handy in an interview, or give you the proper gouge on life at Atlas.

2. Are you willing to rely on someone else's impression of what is important? Are you willing to rely on someone else to tell you that Atlas is a good gig, or not?

Just some considerations for what is a pretty important decision-making process that affects you and your future and your family and their future...

Ok, I'm off the soapbox now...you are cleared direct to the rest of the thread...

Get a smart friend on phone to help while you take test. The test is NOT easy. You get a minute a question... You can study and study and it will still be a ball buster.

I talked to a friend who is interviewing today actually and he listed two of the three (numbers 1, and 3 above) when we were talking about the test.

Good luck.

Thumbs up Dry Hair!

No pool time, I kept my hair dry!
PAQ 8/20
Callback and phone interview 12/13
Online test 12/15ish (mid 80s)
Call for interview 12/19
Interview 1/15, later that day received call for January 28 747 class
1/16 Drug screen/paperwork
6700 TT
4000+ International Heavy
1300+ Jet PIC
700+ DC-10/MD 11 PIC
600 SIC 747-4
I was expecting the interview to be a 5/10 in regards to enjoyability. There were 13 people in our interview group all with quite impressive backgrounds. The day was very well organized and they made it very comfortable. Interviewing is never a fun experience, but it ended up around a 7.3/10 in enjoyability. What sold me on the company was hearing The Red Hot Chili Peppers in the intro video.
Prep:
This entire forum and a few gallons of coffee.
ASA ATP prep on Ipad
Read AIM pilot controller glossary to familiarize acronyms as possible essay topics (ended up w/ describe the 2 types of noise abatement procedures)
Nat doc 007 avail. at paris.icao.gov (N. Atlantic Procedures manual)
FAR AIM 91/121
Researched topics given here on forum
Contacted other interview candidate and did practice interview over skype based on previous question asked. We critiqued each others answers and I believe it helped quite a bit to answer questions given by a stranger.
I am really excited to have a class date and encourage everyone out there to take the preparation very seriously if you want the job. I can't sent PM's but can probably receive them, If you have any specific questions send me one with an email address to respond to.

Congrats Brett and "Barticus"! I was in the interview group with you (Omni guy), and I'm glad to see you guys get the call, as well. I'm in class a day later than you, slated for the 767. Seems like they're in need of 767 qualified guys in that class, and I was more than happy to oblige.

Have fun on the Whale!
