Just 1 q...17 days get extended.Does the company balance it out on the next month?
Month 1 17 days +4
Month 2 17 days -4
or do you just pocket the extra cash?

Thanks again.
Pocket the cash.

You just keep the money, there is no balancing (and I do not think that we would want them to do so).

There are several factors that increase/decrease the odds of being extended, and often you know that it is coming or that you are relatively "safe". In practice there are guys who maneuver themselves into a position to get the money (some of whom then complain, but I digress).

There are also guaranteed days off (GDO) in the new contract, which helps to control the process.

In practice I get jerked around perhaps twice a year. The sting goes away when the paycheck shows up. YMMV

C17trap:

We may have corossed paths in the C-141 and the C-17. I was at WRi 97-01 and moved on to the C-17 where I've been ever since. No staff tours, just the occasional deployment. I don't have enough posts yet to PM you or I would have done that.

KYT, Yes we did cross paths in the same squadron. I returned your email and will do anything I can to help you to include writing a letter of rec since we flew together in the C141 at McGuire. I just completed my first year and came off of first year probation on August 1st.

It has been a great year and I am looking forward to the next 19!!! Atlas is a fantastic company to fly for!

Friday the 17th, I am headed to MIA for PC and 747-8 differences training. After that, 7 days of reservce in HSV. Looking forward to grilling Friday night for those of you down at the Residence.

Do what it takes... it's a great gig!!! Apply, update and while you wait for the phone call... NETWORK and get that part 121 experience! Just my two cents.

I just finished reading all of the posts here and feel like the guy in the TV commercial a few years back who claimed "I reached the end of the internet."

Thank you to all who posted such useful information here regarding the hiring process, business plans, Tech Testing gouge, recommended books, pay info, training location info, and much much more. I plan to start reading the ACE and other books as soon as possible.

What's noticeable on this thread is what is NOT here in 372 pages. What's not here is the bickering and bantering over the negatives of the company or the contract or why company XXX is better. Yes is did get slightly off topic for a bit, but was professionally nudged back to it roots helping good folks with quality information regarding the entire process. All along the way I was logging specific posts to return to for further review. I hope I have the opportunity to personally thank some of you when I head through RMS in the coming weeks over a drink or two. Safe travels to all....

As those who already work for Atlas have stated, if you really want a feel for the company then I fully recommend that you read everything. I offer this as a type of frequently asked questions listing since the page count continues to increase daily.
