Atlas Air Hiring

Excellent. I will keep reading for now, and follow up in the near future if anything else comes to mind that I don't find. I was looking for any newer info, but I guess it's all pretty much as before then. Thanks for the info.

Does anyone have help to offer a new guy with "0" time? I am thinking of going to ATP for their PPL and commercial course. All of what I read it seems the US market is dismal and almost pointless to try this for a career. I am still deployed in Afghanistan and would like to start school in the fall. All I wanted to do since I was young is to fly. I am 45 yrs. Is there any light at the end of the tunnel?

There are plenty of good schools out there, find the one that best fits YOUR needs, not the needs of the person selling you the course. Expect to have to do some serious flying before you get to the cockpit of Atlas or anyone else. The opportunities do exist, but you will have to be able to adapt...hmmm, Afghanistan...yeah, you have THAT ticket punched...
Seriously, be willing to move for a job and understand that if your focus is the future, it can be done. The pay may suck, the hours may be long and some of the operators may be REALLY shady. Tolerate the first two, refuse to accept the last...the last thing you need is a violation because of a shady operator.
Keep up on these threads and ask questions anytime. There are plenty of good guys here who will share information.
Oh yeah...one more thing...anyone who tells you that getting a 737 type rating will guarantee you a job??? Grab your wallet and RUN FOR THE EXIT.
Good luck!
