I should be more specific, In 2010, Emirates accounted for 20% of Atlas' ACMI REVENUE, not FLYING hours. It is a lucrative contract and pays the bills. When EK pulls the ACMI from Atlas, they will take a big hit on the bottom line as they won't find nearly as lucrative or stable flying as Emirates was and Atlas has some pretty big bills coming due with the 747-800s. They may have planned on the revenue operating 747-800s for EK to fund their future growth, but Emirates has canned the -8 for whatever reasons.
Look on page 60 of the 2010 Annual report
"We are exposed to concentration of credit risk by our customers. The following table summarizes our
significant exposure to Polar, the U.S. Military Airlift Mobility Command (“AMC”) and the International
Airline of United Arab Emirates (“Emirates”). No other customer accounted for 10.0% or more of our Total
Operating Revenues. We have not experienced credit issues with any of these customers."
"Revenue as a % of ACMI Revenue 2010 2009 2008
Polar . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 34.1% 38.3% 10.6%

I'm just saying, ACMI carriers never hire for long term projections, they hire for the demand they have for the next 12-18 months, then mass layoffs when needed. Something to think about if you are interested in a career at an ACMI.

Could you also factor in for us the acquisition of the 26 74-8F's and additional 767's coming online? The scheduled/ACMI/AMC composite and charter business? How big will the "mass layoff's " be for those new aircraft?
Come to think of it, how long have you been at Atlas?
Just curious...

Hadn't you heard, ATC? Those on the outside (like Wall Street analysts, blog writers, and even those trying just to push buttons) know all the secrets that even our management team don't know about...
And I'm not so convinced that EK is going anywhere, and even if they do Atlas (more than any other ACMI operator) has proven many, many times that they will be able to place the aircraft with a new customer without too much trouble...

Personally...I think it's all a cruel hoax. You got the memo a couple of weeks back, right? That Atlas couldn't survive unless there was an immediate infusion of 767 crews from NAA? You DID get that one...right??

Currently doing the breast stroke in the pool (sts). Anyone see any 400 class dates in the future? I am an USAFR guy and I am not up to speed on contracts but have a question...
If I am hired into the 747, although others are hired before me into the 767, once their 767 seat lock is lifted and they bid into the 747 (for pay in this example) can I be displaced to 767 and 767 pay? If I am displaced to 767, can my pay go down? Or can you only move up the pay ladder?
Can't wait for Miami!

Well perhaps you can enlighten us about your experience beyond reading annual reports. You seem to have a depth of knowledge that no one at Atlas has about ACMI and how Atlas works. Maybe you can shed light on the business plan? Or why they have dropped from 34.9% at EK to the 2010 20.2% value.
