I have been with Atlas since August 1st. I left CVG last night and the Captain was awesome enough to let me have the takeoff out of Cincy and the landing in Bahrain. After 6 months with Atlas, I have one thing to say. WOW! What a great company. The 747-400 is a dream to fly. I have been flying C17's and C141's my whole career, but this 400 is so nice to fly!!!
Nobody cares about the other crap that goes on here. My goal is to get good guys hired. I am a C141 and C17 retired guy and I have no clue about who is buying whom and what is going on with the industry. I'm okay with that!!!! I have no clue what fish is talking about and that doesn't bother me at all!! I have been flying heavy airlift for 22 years. All this crap about who is buying whom means NOTHING to me.
If you want to be hired by Atlas, I have some great gouge!! I personally wrote a very detailed synopsis of the interview.

That said, however, JohnnyK has a point. My own first-hand experience shows that you can never be too aware of your company and the industry in which it competes. Situational awareness applies to all segments of aviation - it is just the threats that differ.
But for now, keep your head down for the first year and enjoy the ride. I am.

Now, THAT'S what it is all about. Getting great guys onboard with a great company.

Such as this, and how it may impact AAWW;
UPS: Press Release
Will this change anything with TNT flying for EK??

If UPS needs the lift (I believe 2 B744Fs now operated by TNT for EK), they will let the contract with EK expire, or pay some penalties (all such contracts have escape clauses for both sides), and walk away with the airplanes.
And this is strictly speculation on my part, but EK will still need the lift, so they will look to companies like Atlas to provide it...we already fly two airplanes for them right now.

Not to burst everybody's sugar high at Atlas, but...
EK just took delivery of its 4th 777F of many. EK's ultimate goal is to have 8+ 777F's and to replace the ACMI's. According to Atlas' annual report Emirates is 20% of their business. Like any ACMI, there are boom and bust cycles. Right now Atlas is on top and hiring for business in the next 12 months. Just be aware that with the draw down in military and EK taking over and Qantas on the tightrope....in 24 months time there could be a whole different story at Atlas
747-8's that were ordered by EK will not be flown by atlas nor EK pilots as they were cancelled.
