My two friends receive today the good FedEx; they will go to the second class on April 9 2012, congratulations. (B767 class)

Yes prior B767.
I understand that they hire 5 candidates off the street for the first class on 3/19, and 7 for the second class on 4/09, the rest of the crew are from the 747 classic.

While I'm very happy people are interviewing and getting placed in class right away, its very discouraging for those of us who have been in the pool for months waiting for a call. Even if you already have the 767 type rating don't you still have to do the full training program? I'm very grateful to be swimming in the pool of the company I've wanted to be at for such a long time but I'm starting to wonder if its going to happen. Are they only hiring with the 767 type now? I don't mean to complain but I'm just very eager to get started.

Is there an expiration date for pool swimmers? That would be a real bummer if someone had to interview again if already swimming for 12 months.

Yes, but he can fly the sim just from the right seat if paired up with someone who needs a PIC type. My partner and I both needed the type, so we had to swap seats and know both CA and FO duties cold.

For those of you swimming, I vividly remember how agonizing the wait can be. At least there's a valid reason for the wait, with the Classics being retired.

If it were me, I would resubmit the resume/PAQ after a year. (I resubmitted mine after 6 months in the pool just to be safe) My guess is HR is fully aware that you guys are on hold, and showing your continued interest would be a good thing. Keep the faith!

That's my biggest fear.

I understand the reasons for the long swim and know that it will be well worth it in the end.

However, the longer it goes I get more nervous that the pool could suffer some sort of anomaly causing some of the swimmers to drown and have to reapply. I haven't applied anywhere else because I want to work at Atlas, so this would be a huge set-back in my 'career'.

As long as the pool maintains it's integrity, I will patiently swim.

Glass-half full, UP Pilot. I understand the frustrations of waiting for so long...hang in there everyone.

And good luck to the rest trying to get as far as you have gotten...
