That's what I was thinking, nothing here either. Maybe they will hire all of us since they have a bunch of 76 spots to fill.

Anyone with recent interview experience if you could PM a short synopsis it would be appreciated. I've read the thread but just looking for the most recent information.

ABX Air. One of their pilots mentioned to a friend of mine that Atlas was interested in their company. Anyone else hear this? This could be plausible I guess... 76s, Cincy base, DHL...

I had been thinking this for a long time. It fits with the rumors as to the number of 767s we may be operating in the future. I feel the charter / cargo industry is ripe for consolidation. However, ABX is owned by Air Transport Service Group which owns ATI and Capital. Those two companies don't seem to fit into Atlas well.

Then there is North American which is in bankruptcy. They dumped all of their 757s leaving just 767s. A perfect acquisition for Atlas' emergence into 767 charter flying. However, they are owned by Global Aviation Holdings who owns World as well. Although World has 747s, they have MD-11s that I do not think would fit the Atlas mold well. Being in bankruptcy, anything could be possible here.

The leaders at Atlas are saying they are only interested in internal growth which means to me that they are looking at mergers.

There just does not seem to be any perfect fits for Atlas, but almost anything can work at the right price.

Since this is Atlas hiring thread....What would a merger do to todays Atlas New Hires?

Would New Hires get any protection with the Contract?

I believe management is interested in airframes only. We already have operating certificates (w/ etops), customers, and no need for anyones add'l types, gates, routes, or debt!

I would even modify your statement and say that they only want certain types of airplanes...

I'm sorry but the ABX fleet is not likely to be of very much interest to Atlas...just like they might not be interested in World's P&W-powered 744s.

Atlas operates some Pratt & Whitney powered 747s. Atlas now has other fleet types and other variations to those fleet types. I would not rule anything out if there is money to be made from a deal. As demand in our business has declined and our competitors are hurting, we should capitalize on these opportunities.

An acquisition would take-out competitor supply while raising our pricing power. At the same time, we would gain new customers.

We may have too much on our plate to capitalize on any of these opportunities right now with the 767 program start-up, the ending of the Classic program, and the start of the 747-8 program.

We will have to wait and see how it plays out. Oh, what any of this does to hiring is anyones guess.
