Does anyone know what the training pay is? And when it changes to regular line pay?
Got a call today, did phone interview. HR said they will call back this afternoon to set next phase? Asked what my availability was in Feb for an interview. Nothing about the 100 question test. It this normal or did I blow it on the phone interview?
FWIW I have 5000 hrs, 2500 Jet time, 700 PIC Jet in 707s E-3s (USAF E-3s), current and 767 type
I applied Sept 22, 2011

And have you started the online test, yet?

Big pow wow meeting with management and check airman/instructors today. On the 747 side the projection is for only three classes this year. So, maybe 30 pilots at the most getting hired? I didn't find out about 767 pilot needs. There are a lot of classic pilots who will need transition training so that will keep the training center busy.
I heard this all in a noisy hotel bar over beers. Take it for what it's worth.

But, like all the really good pilots out there, I am an eternal optimist.
YMMV

That's correct, the test is now 100 questions to be completed in one hour. And do take it seriously cause its definitely challenging. There's questions on NAT weather deviation procedures, TAFs (wind direction - true or magnetic) and METARS, JFK ILS 31L procedures, CAT 11 approaches, runway lighting (color of last 2000/3000 feet of edge and centerline lights), at least 6 weather symbols (so do print out weather symbology for quick reference) and much more.
Try to have at least two laptops running simaltaneuosly with another pilot available to quick-reference stuff on google. And outside of all the prep books recommended in this thread, do have the "Everything Explained for the Professional Pilot" next to you. The information in there is straight forward and concise! Definitely good to have available when you have less than a minute per question.
Keep a timer handy and do not spend more than a minute per question as you will find yourself rushing at the end once you realize that time is running out. A better plan is to work through the questions you are either sure about or are easy to figure out and flag and skip the ones that are difficult - you can revisit them later. The time will go by fast, trust me! Good luck and please lets us know if you have additional questions...

with 100 questions, it's more like 36 seconds per question or you'll fall behind. read each question/answer carefully, mark the best choice (even if you have no idea) and move on. don't get bogged down until you've been through the entire test.
