As a guy still a year or two out from applying (gotta retire from the AF first) and spending my time trying to figure out if I know anyone at Atlas, I don't have much to add other than this gem.

Is a phone call with a status update of "we've still got your name in the pool" worth the emotional rollercoaster of answering the phone and hearing "This is Atlas calling for XXX?"

It depends on you, I suppose. Some guys called every month or so, and got the "you're still in the pool" response. A couple smart guys called the Friday before a class started, mentioned their immediate availability, and got lucky after someone pulled out at the last minute. I waited until I couldn't stand it anymore (7 months) and finally broke down and called. The response? "Oh, I was just about to call you, congratulations!"

It'd be nice to see where you are on the list, but your position in the pool changes every time they interview. Other than the last-minute strategy, your number comes up when it comes up. Half of my new-hire class had been in the pool 6+ months.

Short-bussers, no doubt, fulfilling some sort of special-ed EEO quota.

Seriously, you need to get out there and start flying. I've caught up to you at this point 'awaiting oe'!

Has anyone else had issues with the pre-employment questionnaire? When I download it, it displays all screwed up, with no questions....

Are you using a Mac/ Preview? The PAQ doesn't work properly w/ Preview; so you'll need to open w/ Adobe Reader. Then.....you'll be good to go!

Default Training Pay

Does anyone know what the training pay is? And when it changes to regular line pay?

Got a call today, did phone interview. HR said they will call back this afternoon to set next phase? Asked what my availability was in Feb for an interview. Nothing about the 100 question test. It this normal or did I blow it on the phone interview?

FWIW I have 5000 hrs, 2500 Jet time, 700 PIC Jet in 707s E-3s (USAF E-3s), current and 767 type

I applied Sept 22, 2011

They should send you a link to a 100 question ball buster of a test after the phone interview unless HR has changed its process. If they asked about you Feb avail.....you prob didn't hose the phone interview. Cheers.

Training pay is now $1600 a month till you complete OE or your first four months, whichever comes first.
