Nope, no bunks in the 767. First-class seat in the back, right next to the lav. It's not even a lie-flat.

In other words, if you're senior to me, it's a horrible airplane that should be avoided at all costs - only two engines!

(If you're junior to me, who wants to fly with training engines? Or fly an airplane that does everything for you? The light twin is a real pilot's airplane!)

RJCapt - how many Speedoes will you bring on a 17-day trip?

For the 767 a two-engine approach is NOT an emergency, unlike the 747 where a two-engine situation is one where you better start looking to set the beast down somewhere!!

As for my OE...I don't know, but most likely not till late January. However, we might know more after the second 767 goes flying this week. As charters become available, XCA are being sent on OE. Then, by seniority order, the rest of us.

That said, they have already sent a FNG-FO on several flights this week...so, who knows, you might do your IOE before I do mine.

There are a couple levels of insurance, dental and vision, and a 401k.

We have a few things to deal with. A couple more 744's will show up soon, some more 767's and then the -8's start arriving in the summer. You do the math. Only five classics to park, and a few of those guys will call it quits. Oh and we have a BUNCH of Boeing Bucks to spend, so that could come in the form of new 767-300ER's down the road. We shall see.
Whaledriver - thanks for the response and insights... no doubt the nuggets of knowledge intermixed with the speculation keeps those of us "treading water in the pool," awaiting interviews, or even the initial call from HR going. Although the pipeline has slowed significantly for those on the outside waiting to get in and despite the slow economic recovery in some parts of the world... global freight is supposedly growing at 4.5%... it appears that Atlas is positioning itself nicely with the acquisition of aircraft to take advantage of this growth... there is a bright future for those waiting to join the Atlas family and can't wait! Between the additional airframes, freight growth, possible implementation of new FAA crew rest rules, and "age 65" retirement effect about to expire... I believe there is going to be a need for additional pilots at Atlas and elsewhere... it's a statement of the obvious but I repeat these facts for those reading the blog to keep the faith... the call will come eventually and prospects are good.

Question...with the -200 folks taking the majority of the -400 slots over the next few months, is there any insights on how many slots from "the pool" will get mixed in per month?

With the push back of interviews to the spring/summer time does anyone on the inside know if HR is continuing with the initial phone interviews and testing? I helped a buddy and coworker of mine at XJT week before last take the written test (ALL gouge on this Thread is spot on; STILL STUDY!!). He received the initial call two weeks ago Monday, just after the company announced the slow down in hiring. He PASSED the test and got a call telling him about the wait. Just curious if the company is trying to fill an interview pool, so to speak, while on interview hiatus.

Thanks for any insight....

KCheese... "As a swimmer in the pool," I have limited gouge but have been trying to put bits and pieces together... others may have more insights and be able to weigh in on your questions with more concrete info. I have no idea if HR will suspend the telephone interviews and testing in addition to post-poning the face-to-face interviews... I would not be surprised if they do. Not sure if HR and training work closely together but if they do, they might be concentrating on sorting out the training pipeline backlog issue. From what I understand after my brief chat with someone in HR and some other info obtained from sources inside the company... the "pool" is relatively full (approx 60 swimmers in it)... HR fills the pool upon which training draws from, when pool gets low... HR refills. With the "classics" being retired, about 200 pilots will need retraining into either the -400 or 767 and will take most of the training slots during the first half of the year... hence the backlog in the training pipeline for those of us that are anxiously awaiting a call. Pure speculation but if my math is right, 60 swimmers over 6 months puts it at 10 lucky folks in the pool being called per month... when pool gets drained to some pre-determined level... HR will resume phone interviews, testing, and face-to-face and hiring to fill pool... that's my 2 cents on it. Still lots of positive growth happening with the acquisition of more aircraft slated over the coming years and the general thoughts on the company is that Atlas is a great place to be... worth the wait... although bummed about the extended wait, still can't wait to join the Atlas family... hope this helps a little
