Wow, 11 guys from one squadron...impressive. First guy got in and brought others with him...are you ready to throw darts at him now?!!

I think there are several ExpressJet (XJT) guys that have been hired over the last few years...but I'm sure your group has out-numbered them.

Congratulations...and good luck to the guys on the outside looking in. I'm sure they'll get to you soon.

744Driver. Thank you for your insightfullness! I have followed your input on this thread for a while and truly appreciate the time you have taken to provide all of us such sound information. I am on the outside waiting to get in, having completed the phone interview and online tech assessment. I am also XJT where there is a slew of compadres waiting to get in as well lol. Atlas has been the flavor of the month for quite a few months for most of us here. In earnest, it's been my floavor for a number of years. I hope to meet you in the not-so-distant future...

Yep....have been home since Oct 30th. I was in Miami for Captain's charm school for 4 days last week. And my Captain's OE is not likely to start till mid January. I haven't had this much time off since the furlough in 2001.

You guys, C5whaleguy, and other line guys, please keep working hard so that I can maintain my lifestyle!! Don't worry, I'll rejoin the line flying club soon...one of these days, I'll repay the favor.

No thanks required, baam7700...just trying to pass on some good information to help you guys break through the noise on some of the other threads about Atlas...not an easy feat after 273 pages and 2700+ posts.

All the Atlas guys have tried to offer valid information for you to use while you are trying to jump through the hoops in the hiring process.

Good luck.

It's good to see more MAC folks showing up here! (and it IS MAC doggone it. None of this AMC stuff) You guys will love it here. It's much like the C-141 and C-5 world without the MREs and tents. Wait...C-5s didn't do tents. OK, for you Galaxy guys it's without MREs and the hotels are better.

There are a lot of other C-17 guys here from other squadrons (though some have recently gone on to greener - ie. purpler - pastures). and even though there are at least 11 guys here or in the pool from Astar, I really hope that dosen't mean we're about to get DC-8's ...

dc8driv ... uh, I mean (soon-to-be) ... dash8driver

You owe the company 17 days per month. I've heard with the switch back to line bidding that there are mostly 17-day patterns, so I would plan for that and then be happily surprised if you get something different. It depends a bit on the base you get. HSV and JFK are junior on the 747, I'm guessing CVG will go junior on the 767.

Plan for 17 days in a row, and then be extended 3 days. If you do that, then you will be "happy", as most trips are less than that. Trips range from 1 day to more than 17 days. I would say the average trip in the JFK base is 1-2 weeks. JFK is the most junior, I think, but bases don't matter much at Atlas as you airline from your Gateway, unless you live in base, and even then you may be airlined to somewhere else, as many trips do not start/end in your base.

Lately, even though I have been scheduled for 17 days, I have been doing some R1 at home, so not gone 17 days.
