Atlas Air Hiring
#2341
I got my training letter today and also noted the 63.37 an hour number. I called Atlas and have not heard back. I had a friend go through the contract. It says in section 32 that new hires will be paid the rate set forth in section 3 ($75.00) unless the aircraft falls under section 32.c which is new aircraft for which rates have not been created. But the 767 rate is already created with the "Medium Lift" pay rate. It goes on to say that the 83.94% will be applied to year 2 pay rates unless it is a "light lift" aircraft which would have it's rate applied at year 3. Atlas currently does not have any aircraft that meet the "light lift" definition.
I'll post more when I hear something.

Just got of the phone with Atlas HR. She said they had just received portions of the contract and had not been told about the $75/hr for all 1st years. We read through the contract together and she agreed but said she had to make some calls on it because if it was true then all of the rates were wrong in the payroll computer.
She told me to sign it and send it back in, but that she would probably not get back to me to verify the rate until Monday.

i was sept 15th. nothing yet, but i think its reasonable to get something within the next 2 weeks based on the last interview class letters. it doesnt seem like they have been adhering to the 2 weeks or less they told us in the presentation.

Rating Ride
Just finished my rating ride yesterday. Now I feel like I really work here. The check ride is not easy, but for me the oral is the hardest part. They are using CBT to teach systems. Bad idea. I had to spend extra time learining the systems on this extraordinarily complex airplane on my own time. The CBT just doesn't do it. When you go through training here, you will be taught what you need to know via computer based training. However, as you pilots know, there is nothing better than an instructor standing before the class a telling you which buses are powered when you push the battery switch in.....etc,
Nonetheless, we are blessed to be here. Atlas is a great company. If you are unsure whether to work here or not, PM me. The rest of you know that this company is the best in the industry. For those of you who have interviewied or are interviewing in the future, best of luck to you all.
Cheers and Safe Travels

Atlas Air interview
Essay:
Explain the 3 biggest issues facing the aviation industry.
Background Portion:
Have you ever failed any checkrides?
Talk about your resume.
Why did you chose X school or X job or X military option?
Explain gaps in employment history.
Pretty straight forward I thought.
Technical:
What is SLOP?
What are the procedures for deviation on the Oceanic Tracks?
What did you use to study? http://www.ibac.org/Files/CNSATM/Library/MNPSA_2008.pdf
How wide are the tracks?
Jepp Charts: Where is the final approach fix?
What is MSA?
How about in mountainous terrain (1000' regardless)
Etc... Know your jepp charts
Read an international notam.
Read international TAF.
What is screen height?
Climb segments?
Climb gradient required?
FYI...I scored an 88 on the online test and allthough the questions seemed to correlate highly to the online test; I didnt get questions related to the ones I missed.
The HR questions were very similiar to the previous gouge within this thread with some phraseology changes.
Thats all I can remember.
Good Luck!
