Can anybody on here give me an idea of their times and experience (either on here or PM me)? I applied about two months ago, but I was talking to someone involved with Atlas and he stated that they are probably only going to look at people with 747 and other heavy experience. Does that seem correct, or is there a chance for someone with lighter jet time?

For the most part, what you heard is true.

However, there have been applicants recently to get interviews and even gotten the job offer with just RJ experience, or just corporate experience.

The majority of the successful candidates have been from prior airline experience with bigger-than-B737 or DC9 flight time. Almost all of them have previous PIC time on those airplanes and coming from ATA, Kitty Hawk, Evergreen, etc.

That said, I will be the last guy in the world to tell you not to apply. I don't know your background, but one thing is for sure...if you don't throw your hat in the ring, you will not get a phone call and you will not get the job.

Good luck.

Thanks, I already applied about a month ago. When I told the guy (who works WITH Atlas, not FOR Atlas), he said I probably don't have a chance. Anyway, I have not gotten a call from ANY airline that I have applied to in the last year and a half, so I figure why not Atlas too. I have 4500 TT and around 1600 turbine (CRJ and Lear).

I'm right there with ya bro. I've sent an updated resume every month for going on 5 months. 3200 TT, 2000 turbine. I'll keep sending one until they tell me to stop

For those of you who will be starting ground school, do not be lulled into complacency by the mild tone of the first week. Wisely spend your time on flows/procedures because it will come like a fire hose soon enough.

Reminds me of when I got hired at Kalitta in '93 coming from a real dirtbag 727 operator. One day of INDOC (complete with Connie's "safety briefing"), a couple days of systems, one warm up sim and a PC before IOE with an Eastern scab...fast, furious and surreal all at once.

Gotta say though, the checks always cashed, Connie was straight up (brutally so at times) and had far more integrity than UPS management.

Love the avatar/name BTW...awesome book.
