Great thanks. That makes the training delays a little easier to swallow, I guess.

Don’t forget the DOS +1 that also begins 9/01/22 in addition to your month of hire anniversary year 2

That all went right over my head, sorry. What's DOS?

Date of signing. It refers to pay rates jumping for everyone every year after the signing of our latest contract. It means you get a raise for longevity and another raise for per the DOS tables. I always understood the DOS increases essentially to be scheduled cost of living adjustments. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Not exactly wrong. But it would be more accurate to say the pay rates are increased incrementally each year to keep up with the rate of inflation.

Cost of living is more of a regional concept, like NYC vs rural living.

Keep up with inflation? So like 14% raise? (Kidding...sort of)

Thanks all for the answers.

Agree with you elevation when it comes to hiring our very own from the soil we grew up on if at all possible but not an absolute and that is just me. The outlier is the attitude regardless of generation. Not asking anyone to be grateful, incredibly humble or eat humble pie - just respect the industry and what it cost for those prior and currently employed to get here and make it what it is today no matter the outfit. It appears not everything can be taught/learned. Not advocating for the company to fix it’s issues with help from outside, but I would rather fly with those who exhibit professionalism regardless if their intent is to move on and I will always wish them the best in their endeavors!

*Just speaking for myself. I was grateful to be hired here many moons ago coming in from the military at a time having just over 5,000 hrs when you were lucky to be looked at. Plenty of PIC, hvy turbine, Instructor, definitely not needed Masters Degree, etc. Learned many more nuggets for my bag of tricks from the long timers here and others after. Either way, I still have a ton of friends at other outfits especially at Purple and Brown, most of which were before I arrived here constantly busting my chops to jump ship. Grass may seem greener, but its not always the case and even if it were you still have to mow it. Turns out this is my niche purely based upon my own priorities and nothing else. Everyone is different but we all have only ONELife. Choose wisely if and when you have the option. It’s not for everyone, but there is goodness here let’s bring it up as best we can.
I think that’s very well put. Brown had been my long term career goal since I was a wee lad. With this shortage my number finally came up and I was offered my choice of 747 or 757 classes. After carefully considering all the angles (pay, QOL, seniority, retirement, stress.) I reluctantly passed on the offer. I also passed on offers from AA and SWA. But like you said, everyone is different. After 12 years at Giant, living in base and flying a week on/week off schedule ANY other job would feel like work. We’ve doubled in size since I’ve started here and some of benefits to working here can’t be had anywhere else. I think that’s why 90% of the attrition at Atlas is in year 1-7 range. Once you’ve settled in here it can be a pretty cushy ride.
