Are guys at ATP mins getting hired into WBs at Atlas? I’m an R-ATP guy at 1400 hours. Regional FO and will be holding a line in April (and hopefully for the rest of the year)

I know I have low time, but I’ve heard of a few R-ATP guys getting hired into the 73 at Atlas. If I want to fly here should I put an app in now or when I get my restriction removed in a few months?

If I stay put I’ll be at a narrow body major in about 2 years through my company’s pathways agreement, but Atlas really interests me with the opportunity of a variety of aircraft and flying worldwide. My wife and I would potentially be willing to relocate to a west coast/AK base but we haven’t figured all that out yet. Currently in SEA.

Seeking the advice of some more experienced aviators.

Short answer: No. But you miss all the shots you don't take.

If you need only the hours and not age to get to the unrestricted ATP. Just do a few more months at the regional and you will be able to apply at the mins.

I'm on a debate between Frontier/Spirit. vs Atlas. Growth , opportunities (frontier merger ) etc. I got a assessment from Frontier...I have the hours for the wide bodies at Atlas(above requirements). Right now I care about financial aspect only. Retirement at F9 seems good with 15%DC. Cmparing pay rates and opportunity to make moneyW, they are pretty similar. It would be interesting to know what is ahead for Atlas. War..recession,inflation makes everything more difficult. I may stay were I'm and wait to see what happens during the next 6..12 months.

Do you have a CJO from them?
Apply, then decide.

Excellent advice. Get on board with whomever first. If you love it stay, you don’t move on to your “greener pastures.” Your dilemma will be while in training with one outfit the other or more will undoubtedly call. I think it’s a test within our industry. Nothing in this industry is concrete - maybe the red pill is the right choice, only you can decide.

That must have been a very tough road and a rollercoaster of worry to go through for you and thousands upon thousands of others. Many came to Atlas and some stayed some left but it proved the stability of the cargo sector. This a very diverse company and and colorful group of flyers from all walks of life, more so than others I would guess. Current events should be a factor in many decisions being made within our industry and outside of it. Economic gains/pitfalls, pandemic, war, etc. nothing is guaranteed, every outfit can be bought, merged or disappear, we just do the best we can.

Atlas was parking airplanes In January of 2020. Hiring had slowed upgraded was 10 years on the 747.

Nothing last for ever- choosing atlas is like buying Tesla @ 1500 a share. Who the hell knows what Atlas will become.

If you don’t care about your QOL, sleep schedule and want to see the world for 17 days. LFG!
