Article 33 is the section of the contract that deals with "Hostile Area, Infectious Disease Area, and DOT Exemption 7573 Operations." Basically you get an override of 175% of your hourly rate for flying in those areas. You can also opt out of them. The Covid virus has created several areas that now qualify for Art33 pay. It is based off the highest CDC level for that particular country.

I have read expect 90 days for training … is that straight through? Any breaks long enough to go home/have family visit?

Straight through in Miami.

Having family visit is no problem…you will likely have a couple days off here and there after you finish ground school. You may end up doing 1 day of sim, 2 days off, 1 day of sim, 1 day off, 1 day sim, 4 days off….etc… It’s hard to predict.

Going home may be a problem. Depends on where you live, how you plan to get there, etc.. Jumpseating is unreliable and unpredictable. If you live close enough that you’re driving, it’s a lot more predictable.

As long as you can get your studying and work done, bring the family to Miami as much and for as long as you like. They can stay in the hotel room with you. It happens all the time.

Training can drag on for more than 90 days too. Simulators break and scheduling falls apart from time to time. So be careful telling people when to expect you home from training, etc. Personally I like the idea of bringing family by, but you know you, how you learn, your stress reactions, etc.

Between oral and fixed-base you may have enough time to get home. As someone else said, it depends on how you get there, distance, etc.

Default E-3 Visa question

Apologies for not starting a new thread but APF will not allow it as I am a new user.

I am curious as to whether there is any ill feeling toward foreigners joining the company with a Work Visa. Completely understandable if that were the case. I am looking at pursuing the E-3 visa path, specifically with ATLAS, but would not like to end up at a company where I was not welcome or assumed to have 'stolen' a job as it were.

Perhaps a little contentious for a forum and not necessarily relevant for this one. PMs are welcome.

I have flown with guys from other countries and they all seemed happy. I enjoyed flying, hanging out with them, and hearing their point of views.

i do not believe you will run into that issue at Atlas. Everyone you fly with wants to share the cockpit with the most qualified pilots the company can hire no matter where they came from, gender, etc. Plus, you probably have unique stories to share.
