I think that Atlas will be gone in 5 years. Our management refuses to acknowledge the fact that pilots are becoming a rare commodity, and they just keep dumbing down the levels required to get hired here. That will only take them so far unless there’s a huge change in the FAA minimums.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst. There are a lot of pilots that thought their airline was too big to fail…but were wrong.

I certainly hope not, they have a lot to offer if the management start playing ball or are even changed to people more willing to listen. I am not sure how desperate they are for pilots at the moment but I do believe from 2022 it will get a lot worse than what it has been over the last 2 years.

Class sizes apparently are already very small and there is no chance of getting the 25+ pilots they wanted per class and only getting smaller. So either they will wake up and have a come to Jesus moment or as you say go down with the ship if they really don’t care.

Hopefully common sense prevails and the right people end up in the right places to sort out the mess….one can hope still…

True, always prepare. True regarding too big to fail about many airlines, but Atlas isn’t that big and even if it were to come to that - then they’ll shed some weight, throw back the high time birds into storage/cemetery along with the staffing required. If the majority of aircraft were new and/or major debt involved, failure definitely more probable as seen before historically. As long as profits are there, they’ll do whatever it takes to sustain it. Demand/$ Stops, game-over. It will be tough to grow significantly, grow at all or remain status quo at this point, we’ll see what happens just a bit farther down the road. Ebb and flow, flex and deflate, outsource as required, very talented in constriction tactics. Definitely something to consider if coming here. Be absorbed or just piecemeal’d out, has always been a consideration.

Can any current Atlas pilot DM me? I have a few questions that I can't find any answer to.

I seriously doubt the answer isn’t out there. But on the chance that it’s not why don’t you ask your question in a public anonymous forum so that it can be answered that way the next individual with the same question can have it answered as well?

Hey everyone! Long time lurker first time poster. I just have a few questions.

1. How often are guys getting extended outside of the 17 days these days? I assume with Atlas losing lots of pilots that extensions could be a more commonplace?

2. Is the imputed income still a thing? I have seen conflicting response in here so I am just looking for clarification.

3. Are the new hires getting to pick their aircraft? Or has it been just assigned?

Thanks in advance everyone!

1. Can only speak for myself. Have been extended once earlier this year (1 day). Usually a couple of attempts but they have been due to delays of arriving aircraft.
2. My experience. Haven’t been imputed for several years. Others may differ.
3. Fleet type request may be asked during initial call-up and/or interview which may have changed? Otherwise offered upon CJO based on current needs and your experience somewhat. No rhyme or reason at times. Hit or miss. New hires chime in for the latest and greatest.

We probably are desperado currently.

Default January class dates

Have the January and February 2022 class dates for all fleets been released yet?

This year I've been extended once, and that was for two days. It was about two years before that. Imputed income is still happening. Not sure about new hires picking airplanes.

Imputed income only happens if you don't do your expense reports.
