I'll add to this and echo "you don't". That's the huge concern that all of us have been having and screaming to deaf ears. There are smarter ways to get PROFICIENT at flying a heavy. Getting hired from the right seat of an RJ into a 747 with only one landing a month is not the preferred solution.

Right now expect 1-3 weeks. If they run classes like they are predicting, expect the backlog to be 6 months by early summer.

Bottom line? Budget for $1600 a month for 4 months and then 2 additional months at $4000. After that you'll probably start breaking guarantee.
Rubicon & Globemaster2827 thanks for the info. Budgeting on $4000 isn't bad, the $1600 is gonna be a pain!
I got hired last year, but due to personal reason, I am unable to start at Atlas right now. I hope they can still keep me in the pool till end of August. Hoping to start in September or earlier!
BTW did any of you guys worked another job while waiting? Do they inform you ahead of time or they just call you 2-3 days ahead?

Wow 8 months! That is a long time. So in that period you will still get paid 1600 per month +per diem for the time you are in training(4 months) and after that you get paid $4000 while you sit at home and wait for the call!

Also, you'll be based in ANC and the imputed income may exceed what you make. A friend of mine actually got a bill from Atlas on first year pay one two week period because his imputed income from Gateway exceeded his pay.
The bottom line is that I'd have an emergency fund built up for 6 months of your living expenses before you accept a job or you'll rack up an amazing amount of credit card debt. This isn't UPS where you just pay it all off on 2nd year pay. There is no pot of gold at the end of this rainbow.
The Per Diem would only be while you are in training. For the 2 months you wait for OE it'll be $1600 per month - no Per Diem. Then $4000 a month until you clear OE. Then you'll start accruing Over Guarantee for the following month. You'll be lucky to crack $45K the first year. 2nd Year seems to be around $85K on the 747. Maybe $70k on the 767? You probably won't break $100K until you upgrade to 767 Captain.

1st month- $1600 +per diem
2nd month- $1600+per diem
3rd month- $1600, no perdiem
4th month- $1600, no perdiem
However, if you started OE in the 3rd month, you will get $4000 plus perdiem or $1600 plus perdiem only?
And later the min 50 hour guarantee at $80 an hour for the 1st year! I think I get the zest of it.
I am saving for the change as well. Let's see how it goes. But wanted to know ahead of time, maybe if it is a long wait, might be a good idea to get a second part time job!
I live in Anchorage, so should not be a problem But maybe move down to Florida and hope to get MIA base in the future. However, on the airline profiles page of Atlas Air, it mentions all travel to/from base is imputed! Is that correct? If they DHD you on Delta from ANC to say Frankfurt, do they impute the income (if ANC is your base). I thought if you lived other than your base, the imputed income will be for only travel and hotels at your base!

So the breakdown is:
1st month- $1600 +per diem
2nd month- $1600+per diem
3rd month- $1600, no perdiem OR $1600 plus hourly pay plus perdiem if OE started
4th month- $1600, no perdiem OR $1600 plus hourly pay plus perdiem if OE started
And later the min 50 hour guarantee at $80 an hour for the 1st year! I think I get the zest of it.
