Net income? $2500 a month. Counting per diem and pay. Maybe $4000-4500 a month after 5 months given the OE backup that's about to happen.
10-11 days a month for an ANC 744 FO. 11-13 days for a 767 CVG FO.
Not sure what you're asking about the roster, but you'd be in ANC for a year, then CVG, Then HSV, LAX, PAE, or ORD after 1.5 years. MIA, JFK and IAH at 2 years. 767 CA at 3-3.5 years with current movement.

Flying a B747 around the world, living in hotels more than 15 days
a month, among other things, for less than $5000. Wow!! I thought Atlas paid much better than that.. I mean it’s an awesome aircraft, big airline, but for too much sacrifice.

For those asking about the pay here...

Your first year sucks, that’s a given. But you need to look at year 2 and compare it. I have two more checks coming in December (15th/31st) to finish out 2017. I’m on second year pay. I’ve grossed $80k this year and taken home $57.9k so far and I’ve been on second year pay almost the entire year. January was still first year pay but I actually earned more that month than I would have at second year pay at 62 hours for the month.

The paycheck on the 15th of the month (half of guarantee) is roughly $1700 (and change) takehome each month. The check on the 30/31st is at least that, plus per diem and minus taxable travel (ANC based you WILL be imputed income on travel and hotels).

Keep in mind this is second year pay. I earned more flying CRJ’s than I do on year two flying a 747 to 6 continents.

Vacation is ridiculous, company match to retirement is ridiculous (my regional matched better), and you’re going to get zero support from the company in some far off places.

For all you regional pilots in the right seat thinking, “hmmm, I’ll get a pay raise, fly the 747, and see the world,” keep in mind that some places we go are very expensive when you go out for food. TGIFridays in Japan (I’m using this as an example to explain in restaurant terms that translate) a burger will cost you between $19-26/US. Throw in an adult beverage and that’s another $10/US. It’s not difficult to spend $50 easily for dinner in some of the major cities we go to. Cheaper can be found, but sometimes you really have to work for it to find it.

I love the plane and the flying, but when I see the paycheck every 15th of the month and realize what I’m earning on second year compared to my friends at FX/UPS I’m sickened. I hit 3rd year pay early next year and it won’t make much of a difference. I should be earning close to $100k gross more per year for what I do, the time away from home, and the sacrifices that my wife and family make for being gone so much....

You choose what you do with this info. I’m putting it out there for you to make your own determinations on what you should do.

Another data point: Year five 747 FO on track to make $101K gross this year. My FDX/UPS friends make over 70% more than me by year 2...and do the exact same job.

No, they don’t do the exact same job.

They aren’t dealing with constant schedule changes, they have trip trades and drops, they have more days off per month, they have better retirement, they know what they are doing and where they are sleeping each night they are gone, they don’t fly into hostile areas with broken planes with no support from the Company, they aren’t lied to by their company, they aren’t being sued (twice) by their company....

And that’s just the start of the list of differences between FX/UPS and Atlas. You do more work, for more days, to more places, for more than 70% less in total compensation than FX/UPS.

But...

11 days off when you're gone for 20 is very different from 11 days off when you're mostly home. Atlas' pay is ridiculously out of whack with the amount of sacrifice that one must make. I was hired six months ago. I had hoped then that there would be some movement on the contract. The opposite happened and the company dug in their heels and went the other way. I was truly shocked. Management must be oblivious of the current state of the industry. They also seem to really hate their own employees. None of the negotiations have showed any real progress, which was very discouraging. Yea, I had a couple of fun trips. But on $50 per diem? Really? Who the f*ck negotiated that? CONUS and OCONUS allowance rates that the US taxpayers think is fine to pay US government employees are substantially higher than Atlas's rates everywhere on Earth. Reasonable Per diem is tax free, so I really, truly can't understand why the previous contract negotiators f*cked this up so badly.

This job may have been tolerable back when the rosters didn't keep one away for the full 17 days + commuting on either end. In the present state, with the current ridiculously bad contract, and seeing little hope for a decent contract any time soon I told them that they could keep their peanuts and I (very easily) found work elsewhere. There are many, many profitable airlines who are abundantly willing to pay pilots a professional, living wage. Atlas is not one of them. Probably at least partially because they can't afford it due to their own management ineptitude. But that's another subject. . .

But hey, if you don't need to earn a living, are flying for a hobby, and want a 50-50 shot at flying the 747, go for it. Try not to think about all those sweet seniority numbers going by at the other carriers when you're enjoying min-rest in Bagram or CVG...
