How can you call Tahoes' statement "wrong"? It is his opinion.

You are assuming that the candidates you are talking about want to take a job at Allegiant or Kalitta. Suppose there are elements of the aforementioned contracts that they would deem unacceptable for their QOL situation. Perhaps those same candidates see Atlas as better than Allegiant and Kalitta but not Delta and so they go to Atlas to bridge the gap? So you'd rather that they stay in their current position, of which you have zero knowledge, until an airline that you define as "better than Atlas" calls them?

Our reason for posting on this thread is to inform prospective candidates about the perils of going to an airline under siege by management. We have done so....without hyperbole. They get it. They will apply regardless.

Of course not. And how you can draw that conclusion is beyond me.

Here's the deal, my opinion is just that. Mine.

I realize it's hard for you to grasp that anyone who doesn't agree with every word you say isn't somehow the enemy. But the fact is, I'm all in. I dutifully follow our Union's guidance, and ultimately I want the same end result as you, we just have different opinions about how to get there.

I'll just leave it at that.

The excitement is strong in these lads. I've never seen shiny jet syndrome take root so completely.

Any update with the lawsuit and how that might effect pilots that are within their probation period. I've read that there's been rumors but anything more solid and as of late. Also are they hiring with their hour minimums now because of this whole fiasco

The lawsuit over forcing us to merge won't affect new hires other than they'll be showing up in a labor dispute. Expect to be on the current contract a minimum of two more years.

There's a meeting with an Arbitrator on 13 April to determine if Atlas pilots have the right to refuse to cross picket lines under the current CBA. Expect someone under Teamsters to Status Quo strike this fall and any new hire who doesn't cross a picket line will be fired by Atlas.

Speculative of course but a good possibility.

Are new hires under no protection from the union? I've never worked under a union so unfamiliar with how that part would work. I guess the second year + people are job protected if they stand together and don't cross?
That in itself is a lot to consider when thinking about going to work there, especially if you don't have many other options if you quit your current job.

While on probation a new hire can be terminated for any reason and there is no recourse.

After probation the termination process involves a formal hearing that includes the company and union, much like a trial.

OK. You're right that we have different opinions about how to get there.

Those of us who have been burned by previous airlines and have few options for exiting this job tend to be more adamant about the situation at Atlas and want to see the change happen as soon as possible. IMHO, the best way to do this is to be adamant and blatant about the negatives here in order to apply pressure on the company. It may not seem like much of a strategy but it is what we have to fight this war with.

OTOH, pilots who are leaving Atlas seem to be less energized about the troubles here. Hopefully sooner or later we'll all end up in a better place than where we are now.

It's just that for some of us, it'll be much, much later.

Understood. There's a lot of passion in our group, which is good, but just because you don't see it, doesn't mean it's not there.
