DO NOT COME TO ATLAS! Are you not aware that the company filed a lawsuit against the pilots yesterday? Are you not aware that for the first year you have no union protection. You are on probation for the first 365 days!

Things are going to get really nasty over the next few months. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Heck, even Kalitta is NOW BETTER than Atlas!

Our compensation sucks compared to the rest of the industry. Our work rules are pathetic and we get the privilege of paying taxes (Imputed Income) on our travel to/from base ! Who else has to pay for the privilege of coming or going to work!

DO NOT COME HERE! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR!

Agreed! Do not waste your time coming here. You will be severely under compensated and life sucks commuting back and forth to Anchorage. Then you get to pay imputed income taxes for the privilege of commuting!

If you have half an aviation brain, you'll let it go to voice mail.

You'll be doing yourself a favor by not joining Atlas. This place is toxic. Anything is better than Atlas right now.

For those at the regionals *IN EITHER SEAT*, I know the temptation to view Atlas as some sort of 'step-up'. This next year is going to be beyond contentious. All those within their first year here could well be treated as a political pawn in this unfortunate game of brinksmanship. My advice, for what it's worth: Someday Atlas my be a place to explore, should sane heads prevail, but that is nowhere on the horizon given recent events. I don't want someone with a family getting caught in a firefight in their first year. Not worth the risk in my opinion, hold off on those apps and let the storm pass.

Honest question for current Atlas pilots:

If life at Atlas is so miserable, why don't you leave?

If it is half as bad as you say, then they should have no pilots at all by now.

(qualifier: I have no intention of going to Atlas or any other heavy metal night cargo)

I think for a lot of guys, it's not for a lack of trying. I used to push metal for Atlas but now am wearing brown pants. I saw the writing on the wall last year and it was a no brainer. The reality is, we still have to wait for the call from the big boys and unfortunately for most, that call can't come soon enough.

Up until a year ago, there was real hope that we could be on the way to an industry standard contract ratified after real Sec 6 negotiations.

Then came the threat of amalgamation following the purchase of Southern Air. Many saw that as a sign to start putting out their apps. Others, myself included, sat on the fence watching and waiting to see if cooler heads prevailed in this competitive environment.

Following this last move by the company, many are off of the fence. After record resignations last year, attrition surged and we lost 34 pilots in January. I know of several just waiting for their class date. Pilots are departing and the numbers will probably increase. But to be honest, just about everyone would rather have a bird in hand than none before they resign.

On a positive note, pitchers and catchers report in 6 days! I'm looking forward to spring training!
