It's all in the geography, and the airline schedules. As has been brought up, if your rest period doesn't fit into those flights, you'll have to leave a day earlier to be in ANC on time. ANC is the worst for this. I was only in ANC for about 4 months before being moved to HSV. I live in Charleston, SC, so this was a step up. From taking off in CHS to landing in HSV (with a layover in ATL) was only about 3 to 4 hours. I even had a few times where I left on the first plane out of CHS and got to HSV in time to start rest for that night! So no days lost at all. Now I'm PAE based and I'm hoping to maybe start a few flights out of CHS and maybe catch a few "at-home" layovers. Again, all in the geography and airline schedules.

They are using a hotel. No more headquarters.

I got a call from HR today. Spoke for about 10-15 mins and I thought it went well. I was told I will hear something within 2 weeks. Anyone else not get offered an interview date right away and get a call later offering one?

We may need to chat, if I'm offered a position, because i'm moving to CHS from Columbus towards the end of the year.

I was PAE based for 2 months before I decided to go back to HSV. I was at the bottom of the list so whatever was available when it got to me was what I got. A few months there were 3 less lines than there were folks bidding. Thus, there were 3 guaranteed VTO lines. One month I was the only person with a VTO line so I only bid those lines which matched the days off I wanted. After being awarded the VTO I emailed scheduling my requested days off and they built it around my request.

As for getting to CHS...good luck. I had CHS on my pattern a few times and was always rescheduled around Asia. once you hit NGO all bets are off. The 3 times I was in NGO I was immediately commercialed to ICN or HKG and never saw the rest of my pattern. While that's not unexpected, it is frustrating when you hope to be going back to CHS. My last month in PAE I actually saw CHS as a fluke. LCF pilots are like a pool of pilots that on paper are dedicated to the LCF but inreality are like out-based pilots without a base since the LCF schedule changes so much.

I may try to go back to PAE next spring if the seniority looks better. For now, there are folks in PAE who prefer to be lifetime FOs because of their seniority.

As a HSV/CVG FO I saw CHS more often. Should you get to CHS I always cancelled the hotel and had Horace drive me home and pick me up. I used the company credit card after talking to travel since the cost for Horace is cheaper than the hotel. Sometimes I would drive to the airport if it was more convenient for me and Horace would pick me up at the delta drop off point.

Sounds like Horace is a frequently used driver in CHS...some atlas guys know the drivers and have their personal cell phones on speed dial
