I took the test on the 4th of May passing with an 88, Still no call. I don't have any internal recommendations. This might be the difference in calls coming sooner than later. Fadec do you have internal recs? Thanks all for the info!!

Do you work here?

Atlas is a great adventure for sure. You will do more here than at any other place I can think of. But you will pay a price for that experience. Your body and health will suffer greatly.

The pilots at Atlas are some of the most unhealthy people I have ever seen. We have a serious obesity problem. If the FAA adopted a BMI factor, 25% the pilots here would lose their medicals.

It is quite challenging because the circadian rhythm disruptions throw your chemistry off.

They simply don't pay us enough for what we do, but dems da breaks man!

Not at all...I think Jerry is spot on. Do yourselves a favor -- go back at least a year on this thread, get a tall glass of your favorite adult beverage (beer, coffee, or whatever), and start reading and taking notes. If the lifestyle, the flying, they abc, and xyz, all line up to what you want for the next few years and beyond (remember, you may NEVER make it to a legacy, LCC, or the likes of FDX, or UPS), then by all means apply and do your best to get on at Atlas.

It is a fun job (great group of pilot to hang with, amazing/crazy destinations and charters, etc etc), but in many cases a frustrating job (lack of support, still struggling to get a major airline CBA, etc), but ultimately a job. For a young guy in his thirties and early forties, it is still a flyover fix, not a full-stop landing.

Good luck.

I'm in my early mid 40's (LCC employed) and it's a full-stop landing. Will you just hire me and be done with it......lol....it's all about QOL and home based. C-17 life, but less hassle with no tents and MREs. Sounds good to me. :D

For those joining, expect training to be 11 weeks. It may be shortened, but with the SIMS, CAT II/III, LQT and LOFT it will be 11 weeks.

Unless current/qualified on the 767 and offered the short course. I had four weeks to the day from interview to checkride!

Not high.

Just slightly insane like the rest of us.*

:D

*Note: To all lawyers and AME's ... that was a joke.
Get it?
A JOKE!
Now go harass a politician and leave us pilots alone!

But remember, we have a CBA. I'm not picking on you specifically, but we have lots of guys who consider this job an extension of their military careers, complete with "missions" that need to be accomplished. Come here, enjoy the job, but fly the contract. We're not flying combat sorties or carrying organs for orphans.

Welllllll....I do have a heavily weighted internal rec....inside joke...if you read all the pages in the last month you will get it :p....actually, I had zero internal recs while applying and getting to take the test...I just recently got a great rec from an Atlas pilot, but there were a few guys in the April 20 new hire class that did not have internals in the kitty so to speak.

The best way to get an internal rec is go jumpseat in Atlas and express your desire to the pilots, most seem to be very on the ball about helping the rest of us become part of the team....not having an internal rec won't hurt you, however getting one or two can only help you...what does everyone else think...or have?

That's what I figured, it appears internal recs to add a lot weight and are "Giant". Thanks for the insight and congrats on the interview.
