Southern Hiring
I've seen a few adds for Southern hiring FO's. I can't find any info to define "Group II Transport Aircraft." Anyone know offhand what the weight is for Group II? Can't find anything on Google, the FAR/AIM, or FAA.GOV.
Thanks

Anyway, we all guess it's just some fancy way of saying international Long Haul freight.

If this is what they mean, then they are looking for jet time, yet I know there's more than one turboprop only guy that has been hired recently....

It is a reference to aircraft size.
"Group Size" is a term used on some air carrier's contracts, mostly for pay purposes. Group One = Widebodies for example In a nutshell, they are looking for people with time in something larger than an RJ.
Not that they have not hired a lot of RJ drivers already, but they prefer time in larger aircraft. Not judging, but many of the RJ guys have had issues in training. IMO it is not so much a size thing, but the ability to transition back to "steam driven" round dial instrumentation, and maintaining situational awareness (no moving map).
Liek I said, they have hired RJ pilots, but if you have had time in something with older avionics you might have a leg up.

I was called by SA for an interview last fall and I was flying a Beechjet at the time. The heaviest airplane I had ever flown in the past was a Falcon 50. However, I didn't accept the interview offer because of another job offer.
