Sorry but you are wrong about Gillies. If anything he is a Dark Star.
On more than one occation he has been know to say that he hates pilots and that they are a liability.
He is part of the Senior management team in Norwalk and has has to take a good deal of the credit for the current fiasco.
From my contacts still there it went from really bad to God awful.
I Pity the poor people still there and any one going there.

Just shows right there a guy doesn't know what he's talking about. A pilot is on the other end of the revenue stream. It's one of the few postions that actually produces revenue. . . if the plane doesn't move revenue is not produced. KISS method of economics: (Keep It Simple Stupid).

nahh . . . Cato has it figured out . . . delay, delay, and even more delay. When it's all said and done and a union gets a pay raise of a little over 20% it doesn't take long to drag it out to a mere cost of living of 3% a year -- times two unions, times the court costs, etc. HA Take it easy Springer hope the family is doing well.

CASS may be here sooner than you think, a source told me the FAA has mandated that they want everyone in it, I forget the year/deadline.

I talked with an FAA guy and he said that they changed their minds about mandatory CASS due to cost. Jumpseating sucks anyway. Those Southern guys should have a ton or two of airline points.

The worst thing this airline could do (for the pilots) is go CASS. I heard the stories "well I will make them fly me from home" yeah right! I know that the last thing I want on my 10 days off is to jumpseat. If I want to go on vacation I'll buy a ticket! Oh yeah we have no spouse pass priviliges so the family has to buy a ticket anyway. Also if you look in our op-specs we are not alowed to have ridders on the upperdeck unless they are company or a handler.

Just my own .02 cents.

I haven't really missed having jumpseat privileges much... I have enough miles on all the major carriers that I can just get an award ticket if I had some where to go.

And when I was back at Brand X, I pretty much only used jumpseats to commute back and forth anyways. Being home based, I don't have to sweat that anymore.

Plus, jumpseating really wasn't much fun anymore. Full planes, political cockpits, rude gate agents... It all added up to a less friendly means of getting around than it used to be years ago.
