Polar Jumpseats
Can anyone please tell me what the jumpseat facilities are like on the Polar 747-400s. I am planning on jumpseating to Narita and was wondering how comfortable it will be for my 14 hour flight. What kind of seats are they? Do they fully recline? Do they have footrests? Can riders get meals? Etc, etc, etc.. Do guys just use those seats or are you better off bringing a thermarest sleeping roll and crashing on the floor. I would appreciate any information or suggestions that would make the trip more comfortable.

As an appreciative sometimes passenger on Polar flights, I can tell you it's a great way to go.
-The seats are business class style--wide with footrests, but not fully reclining. Comfortable enough to catch some zzzz's.
-They feed you well (but I still like to bring some kind of snacks for the crew)
-I just used the seats each time I've been given a ride although I have been offered a bunk once.
-I'd recommend leaving the thermarest at home...there's really no room for the thing that I've ever seen.
Overall, I'd rather fly with these fine folks than on a pax carrier anytime the schedule will work for me.

Thanks for getting all of the information together. We welcome any and all CASS qualified crewmembers. It does take some planning -- at least 48 hours in advance and watch the loads (they will let you know) out of ORD. Sometimes the seats fill up with deadheaders making their way to ICN (Seoul, Korea).

Hi, I'm a Air Wisconsin FO and am CASS approved. Does that mean that I can jump on with Polar and make it out Japan? Does jumpseating on Polar work just like other pax airlines? How are taxes collected? Thank for any information.
