Atlas should be hiring in the first quarter....stand by.

Polar has 7 747's and 360 ish pilots= around 51 pilots per jet

Seems like guys at Atlas work their butts off and the Polar guys fly 20 hours a month and make their guarantee...what am I missing here?

While we're at it, lets throw in ABXAir...about 100 jets and 700 pilots= 7 pilots per jet (although that may be more apples to oranges than the above comparo...)
Just so you know ABX is staffed very thinnly. We actualy have around 2.5 crews per plane. They (management) are very proud we keep their cost down so they can get bigger bonus checks.

ABX is a domestic flyer so we do not need the hevily crewed planes. Our new KIX base is being guessed at a staffing of 7 crews per plane, more in line with what is required for international flying.

That would be welcome news for the latest class that has completed training!

I've been hearing the same rumor about these planes coming for a while now, I'll beleive it when I see it, and it will be a welcomed addition to the fleet!

Just curious with the hiring. How far out will they be letting you know they are interested? I submitted a resume a couple of weeks ago, but haven't heard anything. You'd think for Jan interviews they would need to call folks, do paperwork, etc. All mil time...about 3200TT (KC-135/C-130), 2000 PIC in the above.

Thanks,

GNH

They call real close to the interview. I'll bet (purely a WAG) they'll put calls out the end of the first week or the second week of JAN and interview the last or next to last week of the month.

Wow, didn't know they'd cut the timing that short. Guess we'll all have awhile to wait then.

I wouldn't put much on this one. Since we have only one classic and I know all of the check airmen if this was a fact it wouldn't be becuase of them. It would only have to be because people quit or didn't apply themselves. I have heard nothing of this.

As I have said earlier I'll be going to the school house after Thanksgiving and if this is true, I'll be posting it. But I don't believe it.

What new additions? 3 -400's? From where? In first quarter of 08? I have NOT heard this and if its true theres a lot of preparation necessary before we add any airplane to the certificate. You have any idea the logistical nightmare of merging and bridging any airplane to our MX program?
As understaffed as we are, the research needed to do this would take away our office resources. I havent been told anything and if I have to guess, theres no way we could bridge any airplane that fast - it includes having to do MX on the aircraft.
No way we could look through all those records by March.
Thats not to say they arent doing it, but if I havent heard by now, there no way it could be that fast.

3 airplanes - thanks alot, now I cant sleep.
....*(mumbles to himself) ..they must be out they mind if they think.....(*mumbles more)

Default Update from the School House

Here's the latest from Miami: They are going to continue to interview. DHL says that we MIGHT need more staffing due to reserve issues. However, we have only hired a few of the thirty that they (Polar management) wanted.

Clearing up the no show issue: A lot are not showing up for the interviews once scheduled. It is completely untrue about the no shows in class. One did not show up for the Classic course and one did not show up for the 400.

There are no -400's coming in the first quarter. They are "continually evaluating" their plans but as of right now -- nothing.

Hope this helps.
