1. Do you like being on the road 20 days in a row and sometimes 40(back to back months)?
2. Do you like your kids and wife
3. I don't work there, but from what I've been told from people who do work there and the schedule I saw for the month of August. All lines were 20 days long and typically for a junior guy that means you won't break guarantee, but the senior guys are breaking guarantee.
4. They have 10 airplanes 7 are flying for the month of August. The Koreans have asked SA to have a spare airplane in Korea at all times due to mx problems.
5. I don't think there in CASS, but they are homebased, so they buy you a ticket to and from work.

7. Don't mind instructors who treat you like dirt?
8. Don't mind being told "If you don't like it, there's the door"?

It is a serious hardship to be gone that long with a family at home. All the heavy non-sked operators run 17-20 day lines so this becomes your way of life. You end up missing a lot of birthdays, school events, etc. and the wife is stuck mowing the grass/shoveling snow and dealing with leaks and such as well as taking care of the kids. The idea of 10-13 days off in a row seems nice, but in reality they fly right by and you are gone again. Just think long and hard if this is the right kind of life for you and your family.

Here's the deal
I am a Capt for SAI. It is NOT a good/career company. It isn't all bad though.
Here's the good.
1. The checks are ALWAYS ontime.
2. The pay is better than the regional that you are at (or any for that matter)
3. The crews are great to fly with (typical 10% factor of course)
4. There is more and more variatey of places to fly.
5. The hotels are nice.
6. Training is a breeze. They aren't trying to bust you, if you aren't an arse, you'll get through.
7. Quick upgrade. Less than two years, maybe quicker. Mine was 6 mos.
and the bad...
1. Management doesn't even acknowledge the contract.
2. You WILL get your check on time, but it may not be accurate.
3. 20 days in a row SUCKS! However, the 10 in a row at home ROCKS!
4. Mechanics are generally good, but the maintenance is generally bad (try to figure that one out)
5. Pressure to fly when you shouldn't (ie rested)
6. The DO is nothing but a figure head.
7. Scheduling...Scheduling...Scheduling...Scheduling IS THE WORST IN THE INDUSTRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am very much on the fence about this place. I've been here for over two years! It isn't my last stop (hopefully). But it has opened doors for the future. I'm now getting more and more calls from reputable airlines and hope to be with one someday. Depending on what you ultimately want your pilot career to be, this is likely a place that will help you get there.
If you have any further questions, i'll be happy to answer them.
Good luck

Gliderdriver, If you have 10 years at your current regional job I would guess that your are flying as Captain, take my advice and stay where you are.
You are getting the experience you need right there to go to one of the Majors. Pax or Cargo.
What go43andrti said was spot on.

I had heard the same thing as clearleft. I'm sure it was a new hire snafu deal with HR. But when they (more than one) told me about it, it wasn't so much that they didn't get paid on time, it was the way the company handled it. Both instructors and the Management told them tough ****, and if they didn't like it, theres the door.
