Atlas needs more pilots. They just can't hire any extra until they clear up the cluster that is the training bottleneck for the next year.

The Atlas Training Center has successfully handled a few hundred transitions and upgrades each year for the last several years. In addition there has been approx 450-500 new hires each year, who require even longer training profiles. It will not take a year to retrain and reposition a few hundred 737 and 767 crew members.

Has it really handled the last few years "successfully?" Look at how the 767 went the last couple years, and how the 747 is going currently. We have over 500 pilots that need to be retrained over the next 9 months, not to mention the new hires that got displaced and are already in training

There are about 130 new hires in assigned classes, with is probably normal when compared to the last few years. There are about 150 scheduled with classes for transition and upgrade, along with a few dozen instructors to enhance the flow. The 77 and 74 programs have demonstrated that they can crank out the numbers. The delays in the 76 program aren't really relevant to this conversation.

Additionally,

They intend to have many of the new aircraft on line for the 4th quarter. I also see 23 newly trained instructors and Check Airman on the 77/74. Lots of resources to keep the training moving.

Could be my ignorance as I thought all fighters are considered centerline thrust.
Why Atlas? How about a year at a regional then the Majors?
Only Regionals hiring right now require a 5-year contract. You can't honestly be recommending that?

lol, so true. We have people who deal with the passengers for us. Sure, every once in a blue moon we need to get involved but I am sure Maverick here can use his leadership skills to deal with those rare instances.
