Announcing aircraft purchases without new customers or growth in cargo is a slippery slope.
What happened to the 4 triple 777s they announced in 2021?
I know a few people on the 747 with Atlas and they are barely working. Is this aircraft purchase simply to make investors happy because you don't have any work for them now or in the near future?

who is barely working lmao everyone in my 74 class is being worked like a dog 😂
open time is falling out of the sky, my class is relatively junior and a bunch of us have easily been able to snag open time. Also trip trades for days off are an easy way to grab extra flying if you want it. Based on other responses in this thread I think you're the one with false info lol

He is referring to the unprecedented level of transitions to take place between now and when the 73s and some of the 76s leave the property. It has been reported that there may be as many as 500 events. I believe that the TC will handle this just fine due to the following;
The number will he reduced by attrition as those that don't want to be international WB pilots seek alternatives. Attrition seems to have slowed, but there will still be some as attrition is ever present.
It is much simpler to transition an Atlas trained Boeing pilot with months or years of experience to a 74 or 77 then to train a new hire, shorter footprint, less remedials, less failures.
There are already about 130 in training, they have also trained numerous new CTIs and Check Airman
There is a ton of flying on the 74s with new aircraft arriving soon. The flying on remaining 76s could also increase. DEs are being deployed to bring the 74 aircraft on line soon.
Atlas has completed 6-800 training course each year for the last several years, albeit with delays.
Granted, some will experience delays waiting for classes and OE. It seems the company can afford these efforts as the profits continue to mount despite these challenges.

Truly the CF started with DS leaving property early last month as I was rolling thru recurrent with several hiccups and a sim break which happens from time to time. It was the the way the department attempted to solve the deviations that was not seamless to say the least. In time things will iron themselves out, but I am fortunate to have departed the fix within reason. I am quite flexible as line meat, but a couple of the instructors/check folks were definitely planning to bid for the line to divest themselves from the tremors occurring and they live local which says a lot. Glad to have recurrent in the rear view mirror and hopefully the water will be calm when I return. There wasn't a whisper of AQP status as there are much bigger fish to fry it seems. It's not like I was going to ask anyway.

The open time is real. On the 21st there was 40 events. Some events also have more than one trip/position/base to it. Example “Event 3” may have 6 trips. 3 for ANC 74 FO, 2 for 74 ORD CA, and 1 MIA FO.
Certainly, as mentioned, far more open time on 74 than other fleets due to size. Now what the open time looks like after we have an estimated 140 downgrades and move some senior FO’s, hard to guess what it looks like.

Look up freight prices from Asia to the US. Facts are more interesting than "word on the street".
