Is this thing on?

Fantastic and Congrats. Flown with a couple of newish 74 Capts and it looks like they're staying put at this point which is great news. Sounds like effort has been made to minimize damage as best possible.

Yep very pleasantly surprised with this whole deal. Can't help but wonder if the reason the reallocation bid was so "generous" is because there's another shoe that has yet to drop. Especially when you see how massively overstaffed the 747 FO side will be. Makes me think there's more 74s on the way.
When you think about it, it makes sense. Amazon might have been just good enough to not walk away from but if there's a big deal on the horizon (or several smaller deals) you now have an offramp to get away from low-margin Amazon without having to worry about what to do with all the staff. Now to just see what cards are being held close to the vest.

My in-base seniority looks like its actually going to improve and not insignifigantly. I'm looking forward to seeing how the flying on the 74 will be allocated with the much larger lower-48 bases.

This has been in the works for awhile - 43XGTs are coming on line if not mistaken. That's four aside from the 777 sourcing. Management indicated the shift towards large cargo aircraft from the onset of this transition and they're proving they're not laying around for them to fall in their lap. 777s definitely the focus, but it doesn't seem they're bypassing any 74 opportunities which makes sense just based on maintaining an initial flux of crew numbers.
Those below may be two additional birds or part of the previously mentioned four. Can't find any of the other two if part of the original four. Hmmmm.
"Atlas Air has acquired a pair of factory 747-400Fs that China Airlines retired from service in 2023. Jetran sold the two 2002-vintage freighters (30766 and 30767) to Atlas Air on May 10 after purchasing them earlier in 2024."

Last I heard was only 1 BCF getting retired. One is about to hit a D-check as a matter of fact, so it will be a bane of our existence for a long time.
