It should be noted that airlines sold to PE/hedge funds and later dismantled were probably the walking dead already. The sale was the corporate equivalent of selling your '84 Nissan Stanza airport car to the local pick n' pull. Just because it was able to drive into the lot under its own power means it had any life left in it.
