Reminds me of the pilot I met who talked about his Delta SkyMiles as part of his retirement plan. No joke.
Good advice.

Hotel points and airline status don't feed my kids or put a roof over their heads, so I don't consider it compensation. It's sort of like the guys who look at per diem as compensation.

Buying life insurance OUT of POCKET does not feed your kids, either. But it is part of your salary compensation..

Wrong. That life insurance will take care of my family in the event that something happens to me.

But I agree. Hotel points and miles are like a scorecard for how much you've been away from home. They're a small perk that shouldn't factor into any professional decision. Nothing more.

only OT *****s have major status with hotels and airlines.

When I was CVG based I got tons of IHG points. Now I'm JFK. I pick up more OT (about three times a year) and my hotel status is nearly nil everywhere. There are plenty of people picking up trips who bid reserve in base then VX. Those folks probably aren't seeing much in the way of airline travel or hotels. I'm not sure points and miles indicate people picking up trips.

Let's say we do make that correlation. What purpose does it serve aside from allowing people to accuse us of an illegal work action? Seems like all risk and no reward.

Plenty of day one DHs and last day DHs add up. Couple times a year it would be returning from Europe or Asia. Never VXed during negotiations and only about once a year prior to negotiations. Got half a million miles to use up.

That rumor is true. The company still has not opened the js for international flights to offline crew yet. Not sure why they are taking so long to do it either.

It depends, on a lot of factors. If we negotiate a very low room rate, and you are booked using those rates, they normally do not give you points for that stay.
Currently, I have max status for IHG and Hilton, and at least Gold status for Marriott.
I also have max status on Delta and UAL, and first tier status on AA, but, my UAL and DAL status will drop down one tier for next year.

If you have a critical situation (medical, personal, hurricane, etc.), Atlas is great about helping you out.
I was scheduled for training/travel 14-19Dec, followed by a work pattern 20-30Dec.
Due to my personal situation, I could not do that. I emailed a CP, who got back to me with their phone number.
I told him my situation: Atlas moved my training to 6-11Dec, and pulled me off my 20-30Dec trip.
So, I'm now off 20 days in Dec.

God Bless, and Namaste...
