Atlas Air

Says the guy that is less than 9 months from retirement and has become the biggest company shill as he has been hoping for a quick pay bump & signing bonus before he walks out the door. Not having any interest in fighting to get out from under the never-ending cycle of ‘purchase airline-forced amalgamation/arbitration-never get to vote/strike’ that younger pilots that are facing...or scope or work rules. He’s stated before he’d have happily taken a tiny sub par pay bump with little to no regard for anything else.

While not following the current banter. Thought I would post this tidbit from PBS. Sorry I don't have a youtube embed. Too early since they published this recently. This seems to follow along our rise to passenger service via a SonAir contract (owned by Sonangol in the video). Back then, there were many rumors that money was being siphoned out of country via various corporate entities. While I'm not saying we knowingly took part of what the video says about Sonangol, keeping company with folks that operate this way doesn't put you in a good light. Same could be said of our EXCO over a number of items.
Anyway, the timelines seem to line up for our service beginning and conclusion of our IAH-LAD-IAH passenger service to these shenanigans. I'm curious if the Atlas name will come up in the court proceedings.

So I agree it's potentially distasteful, but does it really make us unique?

The DosSantos family are pretty nasty, but we only know about them because they're currently out of power in Angola. Americans don't talk about guys like Ibrahim Babangida because he still runs the PDP in Nigeria. We work with many companies in the Middle East, Africa and the Far East that have similar and worse associations. Other, better companies do the same thing either working with nasty actors or indirectly supporting hostile governments. Our government make similar compromises.

Not unique, we are probably the leaders other than about two other countries in that area considering my past bloody involvement. I do endeavor to become a better person, as all of us should although who I work for has no problem with skirting the edges as much as possible if not transgressing them. Not dissimilar to our leadership willing to burn our membership as proven in recent history.
I don't have much faith in humanity. I think whoever replaces the people in charge will be more or less equally worthless, just in novel ways.

Is that any organization, though? Unless somebody is watching, most managers will act in ways that expose them to the least possible risk, even if it burns their own people. It's only when someone is watching that we suddenly find a backbone. So I return to the question I asked. Are we unique and does our leadership need to go, or do we just illuminate the facts and give the people in place an opportunity to alter course?

AAWW has done nothing over the last couple years to address pilot retention and save customer flying.
Pack it in boys and girls.

Defending one of the kings of ad hominem attacks by saying ‘knock of the ad hominem’ - that’s an interesting take.
All of the best lies have some morsels of truth woven in, to help add a dose of credibility to the creative storyteller. But sure, let’s all just pretend that he’s an honest broker.
