Amen! Nothin says respect like telling someone who you work for and getting a blank stare. If only we were “airline qualified” whatever that means. For the op if it’s respect you are after At least people have heard of jet blue.

I’ll be the uncool guy now:
When I say to laymen that I fly a 747 the usual response is admiration. That is not so important. What is important is the job satisfaction stemming from flying such a complex magnificent piece of aviation history to places I would have never heard of. There are many challenges and learning experiences associated with flying ACMI and some you couldn’t get with PAX long haul. It challenges me professionally much more so than domestic flying. Scoff at that if you will and tell me the tired old “I’ll fly a 172 as long as the money is good” but the joke is on you. I chose the job because I wanted the job. Not to get rich. Luckily I get paid well too. If I didn’t I’d probably leave soon after having my aviation dreams and interests satiated. I Might not have thought it feasible to begin with actually.
Points is: don’t take a job or encourage people to take a job that pays too little but don’t try and pretend your lazy handheld domestic flying is more “respected”. Your employer might be more respected but Atlas pilots do stuff many of you never will and will have the opportunity to grow professionally more so than the average 320 driver.
Take JetBlue and if you have to get the world traveler bug out apply to one of the better companies.
